Again. By Chris Broad. Again. And the lad, whose proven to all once that his doosra is OK, is now being called inot question.

Cant think why though

Its bizzare , ill logical and uncomprehendible. They just cleared him a months ago and now they're at it again. Can't they make up their minds.

Agreed, Harbhajan is somewhat mystified too, wondering how they can pick up an elbow flex over 15 degrees from the naked eye.

What Occasional Fan expressed in this thread is now, unfortunately, occurring - that the 15 degree rule is going to cost the ICC plenty in bio-mechanical tests and plane fares to the lab because the perception of a bowler straightening his arm too much doesn't mean he has exceeded 15 degrees. If Harbhajan is cleared then the umpires will be reluctant to ever report him again even though they can see an excessive amount of flexing. If what they are seeing is an optical illusion then it brings into question whether any umpire should bother looking for bad actions.

The use of video replays to see if there is a discernible difference in the bowler's action again undermines the credibility of human perception to spot excessive flexing. The problem for Harbhajan now is the following rule:
Quote:
Any player reported twice and proven to have an illegal action within a two year period will be suspended from international cricket for a minimum of 12 months.
This is his second report and if his doosra exceeds 15 degrees in the tests then he is out for a year.

Yepp, I said something about it on the India v Pakistan match thread...What a joke!!!! He was just cleared!!!! For crying out loud, do one of two things...Get him out of the game because he throws (which I don't think) or the one that I subscribe to, leave him alone....There are many other bowlers in the world whose action is more suspect, so get of Harba's back ICC...

No. Get rid of the lot of them to make a statement to all the youngsteres coming through that throwing is not acceptable.

I thought the whole reason for this 15 degrees was because anything under couldn't be seen by the naked eye?

From my understanding it was brought in place so that the ICC didn't have to ban all but 1% of international bowlers, it's reaserchers after all found out the 99% of bowlers (even people like Glenn McGrath & Shuan Pollock) were crossing the previous 12 or what ever degree limit there was
