Sehwag, destined to be best in the world?

I personally am a big fan of Virender Sehwags ability to destroy any team, any place, any where.
If he keeps up his success, I think he will become one of the alltime greatest bastmen in the world, possibly even THE best in Indian cricket history (maybe behind Sachin).

The way he keeps turning out the big scores time and time again is just phenomenal, and looking at recent series, India would be a lot worse off if he wasn't there (the only consistant performer since the Australian tour).

If he keeps his head, he is on his way to greatness I feel.

He's a touch player. When se's in form and watching the ball well, he can be devastating. But I guess he needs to learn to graft to become a true great. The purple patch is going to end some time and that's when we will know what he's made of.
As for now, just enjoy his batting

Longer then it is for most players. I don't mind it lasting longer (forever even) BUT on the condition that it ends against Pakistan and continues agains the rest

He has. His record against us is quite astonishing.

Code:

  vs. Pakistan

Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St
  6 982 309 98.20 3 2 0 - - 0 4 0
Another interesting thing he seems to do much better in the 1st innings of a mathc then in the 2nd.

Code:
Over All

  M R HS BTA 100 50 W BB BLA 5w Ct St
 34 3079 309 55.98 10 9 3 1/17 116.00 0 31 0
Code:
1st Innings

  M R HS BTA 100 50 W BB BLA 5w Ct St
  34 2554 309 75.11 10 7 3 1/17 80.33 0 14 0
Code:
2nd Innings

  M R HS BTA 100 50 W BB BLA 5w Ct St
34 525 90 25.00 0 2 0 - - 0 17 0

Cool

No doubt Sehwag is the most important Player(batsman) in the indian team...but then again he needs to be a bit more consistant in ODI's..and i think this is where Gilchrist is a bit better than Veeru(Sehwag lacks consistancy in ODI's)...but then again Gilly is in his own league...

I think that Sehwag still has a looooong way to go in international cricket. He is noe enjoying a brilliant purple patch. He is playing brilliantly in tests, but does not seem to click in the ODI format which is quit ironic considering how Sehwag plays Now i think we must not look too ahead of ourselves and just enjoy the form that he is in.

Agreed on both points, however I think with time, his ODI game will improve.
