Greg Chappell named India's new coach

Yes, he has. He will help India immensely. This story is about 3 minutes old, and as yet there is no article on Cricinfo yet. Just the headline.

I'm getting the new almost an hour after it was announced! I'm happy with Chappell's appointment and pray he'll be able to fulfill his vision for the Indian team. Amarnath and Haynes were never really in the race, it was always Chappell vs Moody and if there was a person who had an outside chance it was Sandeep Patil who opted out. Moody will most probably take over Sri Lanka! Lets see how these two countries do under these two fantastic minds! Welcome aboard Mr.Greg Chappell....I mean Coach Chappell!!

Good Luck coach Chappell. I hope you are more successful than John Wright.

I think this is a horrendous decision for Indian cricket. The guy was a great batsman (and I mean great), but he is an awful coach.

Greig is the right choice

The selection of Greig Chappel is the right choice for India. India needed someone with a stature as big if not bigger than the current Indian Suprstar players. He has always been a thinking cricketer and his attitude and achievemnt as a player/captain are exemplary. He might not have had a sucessful coaching stint with SA, but NSW ans WA much stronger teams those days.
