Wright for Dronacharya Award!

John Wright may no more be associated with Indian cricket but I think he hasn't been given his full due. He has taken Indian cricket to great heights and deserves to be honoured with the Dronacharya Award. For those unware of this award- its the heighest honour given to any Indian coach by the Govt. of India. I dunno whether any foreigner has got it but Wright has done more than enough to be eligible for it. Hope the BCCI wakes up some day and pushes the Sports Ministry for it.

No, I dont think so.

Yes, he may have got them to a World Cup Final, beaten Australia in India and drawn with them at home, but he has faded in recent times. Poor showings against Pakistan and Australia.

I think the recent failues comes more down to the team's lack of respite rather than the coach. John Wright has made the Indian team what it is capable of, by instilling discipline and fitness into the outfit.

He deserves any recognition he gets.

Red face

I think that he really deserves it because he was the man who made the Indian cricket team believe that they coulld win. Under him India reached the world cup final, beat Australia and England in their own backyards and demolished the Pakistanis both in tests and one dayers in Pakistan.he really deserves it.

I wouldnt call 3-2 and 2-1 a "demolition" of Pakistan.

But the way they defeated them in the two tests has to be called a demolishion.India though did loose 1 test but Pakistan never looked like winning the test series. In the one dayers it was not a demolishion but still beating Pakistan in Pakistan for the 1st time you'll have to give credit to John Wright.

And anyways getting beaten by India in Pakistan in both forms of the game, even if by the slightest margins is greater than just demolition, ask any Pakistan-fan!
