| Interesting discussion.. Tendulkar will open, so we need a new opener. And Ganguly is likely to come in at no.3 or no.4. And assuming MS Dhoni was an automatic selection anyway. The guys who most likely will be selected are: Dheeraj Jadhav, he is a fringe player at the moment who might get his chance Dinesh Mongia, is often a go-to guy when the top order has holes VVS Laxman, really is no reason to leave him out now The guys who SHOULD make it into the eleven are: Hemang Badani, no joke ! He is a very fluid strokemaker when he gets going VVS Laxman, yes i mentioned him above as well, in my opinion, he did nothing wrong to be dropped anyway So my 'ideal' top seven would be something like this: Sehwag Dhoni (w) Laxman Dravid (c) Yuvraj Kaif Badani Altho its very unlikely this will ever happen.

| Yep, I dont see any reason why Laxman and Badani should be kept out. But I would also like if some youngsters were tried out as well, like Raina, Dhawan and domestic cricket lords like Ramesh Powar and JP Yadav. Mongia's selection depends upon how well he does in the counties and also a lot on how well his zonal selector bargains! Dhiraj Jadhav for ODIs? No way dude! He's more in the mould of Akash Chopra-a defensive opener. No ODIs for him at the moment! But dont be surprised if Gambhir makes it.

| My mistake, I actually meant JP Yadav and got the names mixed up ! I think Ramesh Powar is a quality player who deserves more chance in the ODI outfit. But I think he will end up, like many Indian cricketers, simply remaining as a 'domestic cricket lord' as you say.
