Ganguly Picks up Domestic Ton

Sourav Ganguly makes his comeback by crashing a century for the East Zone.

This is bad news for Indian cricket as Ganguly now presents himself a case to force his way back into the line-up, even worse for Dravid who's pathetic returns for the World XI certainly did him no good.

However this is a placid North Zone bowling attack to say the least, and no one ever questioned Ganguly's ability to bash the mediocre.

Your thoughts?

The selectors should now definitely not pick Ganguly as he has hit a century, which he does once in a blue moon. His contribution for this season is now over with this century.

If i was the selectors i will still not pick Ganguly, he is fnished as a captain and player. His ton came against a weak attack and has anyone seen his strike-rate, it terrible considering the attack and picth he was batting on.

If he is picked again for the natioanl side, i will be shocked, Chappel doesn't want him anywhere near the team, and rightly so.

there is also a site to mourn over ganguly

I would hardly call the attack "placid" -- most of them have been pretty close to playing for India such as Bhandari and Sarandeep. Singh is one of the fastest bowlers in India. But I guess for Ganguly haters, nothing is ever good enough.

And I love the whole "bash the mediocre" argument -- well, if Indian players were so damn great as they're made out to be, we'd have defeated Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe long ago. India made Zimbabwe looked competetive for years. So, to moan and whine about Ganguly actually scoring runs against "the mediocre" is a bit naive. Also, for all his mediocrity, his average against Sri Lanka in ODI is just about 40. Wouldn't call that "mediocre."

He was one of the few remarkable Indians that were able to put behind regionalism and pick a side based on talent and potential. Dravid is too mellow to be captain, at 34, a bit too old to start now. Look at what the Aussies do, they appoint a captain around 30-32.
