Tendulkar as a Coach

I was just wondering how tendulkar would do as a coach. I think pretty good especially with teh knowledge and wisedom he posseses. his batting lineups would be strong for sure and bowling would not be too bad too because he is a pretty decent part-timer/regular.

Anyway all yours..................

Sachin Tendulkar is a player who many other players look up to. The youngster look up to him and Sachin passess on some of his tips on batting, in a way he is coaching them at a small level. Tendulkar could become a very good coach on batting because of his great knowledge of the game plus he has a brilliant technique for this era in which you have to score at a high rate. At the moment though Sachin should concentrate on his own batting because India needs his batting more than his coaching. Maybe in the future when his playing career is finished he could become a full time batting coach for India.

Yes he should on paper make a decent coach, even a great coach, but a great player does not always make a great manager.
Depends on his team of coarse, if he was lucky enough to have a good squad of players to pass his knowlage onto, then that could start the waggon rolling.

I often found it odd that Tendulkar was not a great Captaion of India.

Isn't it odd that so many of the modern great's - Kallis, Warne, Murali and Tendulkar have note regulairly Skippered? Even Inazamum has only been a relatively recent appointment (depite Pakistan's ability to chop and change!!).

Lara was not really a great success either!!

For me Tendulra could become a great Coach, but the fact that he never really skippered indicates that he may not have the right requirements?

True, but a great player does not always make a good captain or coach, look at English soccer, Kevin Keegan one of the all time greats, just did not have what it took to be an England manager.

Even a good England captain like Ray Illingworth made a poor cricket Administrator, in fact he was poor IMO.

True but Fletcher was a great captain for Zimbawe, and has made a great coach...

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules. Maybe Captaincy was not Tendulkars thing because his runs were more valuable, then the distraction of Captaincy. As a Coach he would not have to bat and so may be a very good coach indeed.

Yes fair play, I had forgot about Fletcher, however he made his name with England, not Zimbabwe.

I agree 100%, the same could be said of Ian Botham.

Yes I hope you are right, it would be a fitting end to one of the greatest players career, one thing he should command-respect.

I hope for India's sake he becomes a good coach and not just some bitter and twisted commentater who revels in slagging off the current team and saying how much better he would have done it.
