Ganguly dropped for 3rd Test

Saurav Ganguly has been dropped from the squad for the 3rd test. In his place comes Mumbai opener Wasim Jaffer. The selectors said that Ganguly's No. 6 spot will go to Yuvraj who has been in great form. Also, Virender Sehwag will join team as opener.

I guess it makes sense to drop him altogether and allow him to play Ranji trophy than have him in the bench once it was clear that he wasn't gonna make the XI for the next test. Don't find this wrong at all.

He shouldn't have been picked to begin with.

yeah, but honestly, I don't think he disgraced himself at all. He was rather slow, but he showed a lot of determination out there and it looked as though he had seriously worked on his fielding and his attitude. I was in Chennai watching the test (whatever little of it was played) and for the first time in my life, he actually waved back to the fans who were cheering him on when he went out for practice. India play in Chennai every year and he never used to do that. I think he has changed for the better. It is just that Yuvi is playing better than him at the moment. It is wonderful to see India have this problem of plenty, though.

I am one of Ganguly's biggest haters but I don't know why but even i am feeling sorry for him. I don't think this is a fitting farewell to Ganguly who has done soo much for indian cricket since the match scandels, yes we all know for the last 2 years he hasn't been great but he did take a young talented team and make them into a team which could beat any team on their day. I will always remember Ganguly for forging a bunch of telented youngster into a world beating team and i shall never forget his glorious off side batting.

As an outsider the time does looks right. Although Ganguly has contributed hugely to Indian cricket and World cricket.
It seems to me he has become a problem. There are batsmen who are ready to replace him and there is a new coach and capitain. Sometimes a decision has to be made and one can't always wait for the right moment. It also makes it clear to the other players a new era is here and new opportunities.

Another aspect though, I dont think Chappell expected his effigies to be burned every fortnight when he took the job.

If India could afford not to pick Kambli all those years ago then i am sure they can cope without Ganguly.

Exclamation

i think his position has been politically snatched frm him......every cricketing person knows how imp part he played in holding the innings 2gether in the 2nd test.....its a rather unfortunate n disgusting event; not only for the indian cricket but also for CRICKET as whole.......same thing was done with DHANRAJ PILLAI in hockey......n now its the turn of the "undobtedly most successful captain in the history of indian cricket"......

we must not forget dat he sacrificed his own career for team-india's victory.....

during the previous controversy, he was wrong.......but this time its the ppl who have dropped are the ones who are wrong.....is this the way how u treat a captain who brought to indian cricket names like harbhajan, yuvraj, kaif, zaheer, nehra, kumble, sehwag, N MOST IMPORTANT, GREG CHAPPEL?????????????

THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST UNFORTUNATE AND DISGUSTING LOSS TO INDIAN CRICKET......

GUYZ, PLZ DO COMMENT ON THIS.........
