Thumbs down

I can't believe Pakistan won today, I would have thought our batting line up was strong enough to last atleast until tea on the 5th day. Yuvrag and Ganguly played well but the rest were pathetic. I was very dissapointed in Sachin Tendulkar, a batsmen of his quality being bowled in both of the innings really shows his form at the moment.

We have got to pull up our socks if we are going to have any chance of winning the ODI series.

I think Pakistan played well. It was bad batting by the Indian team. Sachin wil take some more time to get into his usual self, I think he was unlucky to get a low bounce in the second innings.

Greatest Indian spinner?

India have had great spinners in there history but who is the greatest out of all of them? I think its Anil Kumble, he has the most wickets and has a great partnership with Harbhajan.

I cant have an opinion on the other great spinners of India as I personally havent seen them in action much. But from what I have heard from older people, people like Chandrashekhar and Prassanna were far better than the Indian spinners of today. Gavasker on one occassion went to the extent of saying that he rates chandra above warne. Kumble is a great spinner no doubt and pronbaby the best of all Indian spinners I have seen live, but I am not sure we can say that he is the best so far.

A small joke to bring us Indian some happiness after the loss to Pakistan.

Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, now pretty old guys, 75 and 76 years old, are sitting on a park bench feeding pigeons and talking about cricket, like they do every day.

Sachin turns to Sourav and says, "Do you think there's cricket in heaven?"

Ganguly thinks about it for a minute and replies, "I dunno. But let's make a deal: if I die first, I'll come back and tell you if there's cricket in heaven, and if you die first, you do the same."

They shake on it and sadly, a few months later, poor Sachin passes on.

One day soon afterward, Ganguly is sitting there feeding the pigeons by himself when he hears a voice whisper, "Sourav...Sourav!"

Ganguly responds, "Sachin! Is that you?"

"Yes it is, Sourav," whispers Sachin's ghost.

Ganguly, still amazed, asks, "So, is there cricket in heaven?"

"Well," says Sachin,

"I've got good news and bad news." "Gimme the good news first," says Ganguly.

Sachin says, "Well... there is cricket in heaven."

Ganguly says, "That's great! What news could be bad enough to ruin that?"

Sachin sighs and whispers, "You are going to open the innings this Friday."

Which can mean only one thing.

That Greg Chappell is coaching Heaven as well.

I myself havn't seen any other Indian spinner other than Kumble and Harbhajan, but what I have heard Bishen Singh Bedi was India's best, especially from English fans as Bedi was a very good oversea's player for Northamptonshire, he finished with 1560 first-class wickets, more than any other Indian bowler!!

Cool Ganguly

I happen to think ganguly should be included in any indian side, test or one day, if you would note in the last test even though india lost.. it was him and yuvraj who were the only ones giving a fight to the rabid pakistani attack, i think he has a better cricketing brain than dravid as well as being a baetter captain, just look at his record and the way dravid did nothing in the last test match is proof enough that he is having a tough time coping with the pressure of captaincy, Ganguly on the other hand was not only playing against his critics but a coach and captain who have little confidence in him and he bowled, batted and fielded quite well given the conditions. If a little bit of confidence is given to him he can make a come back, everyone hits a bad patch even Tendulkar doesnt mean you send them packing!!!

I think Ganguly got enough opportunities in the last two years. He played well in the last match alright but I am afraid it was not well enough. Still I believe he should get another opportunity and I think he will get it in the coming England tour.

I hope Ganguly does get a chance to play against England, I really want him to prove his critics wrong! I still think Ganguly can be an important part of the Indian set-up, if he can regain his form he will be a big asset at the world cup in 2007, the experiance he can give will be as valuable as gold.

I agree with you Waseem, It will be great if he can find form. After watching him play in the last test, I think its only likely that he will regain form in the England series if he gets a chance.
