The Official Bharat Army Thread

Guys this is the "The Official Bharat Army Thread". Like the Barmy army of England we are the Bharat Army of India! I think we should all use this thread to discuss after matches and also let our frustrations out and add our views on players. With the sanctuary rule in place we can be sure that no opposition supporters or non-fans may not post provocative comments about our views, players and after dicussion matches.

Anyways first of all I want to know how many Indian supporters are on this forum. The ones i have came across are:
  • vvvrulz
  • rineet
  • DomainK
  • Doink
  • in_supporter

Im sure there are many more Indian fans out there, come out and express your views and become part of the Bharat Army!

Angry

Was it right to choose Ganguly in the team ahead of Wasim Jaffer and Guatham Gambir?

The selectors gave the shock of the year when they picked the team. Who will partner Virender Sehwag at the top of the order? The only options I can see is Ganguly or Irfan Pathan. This is absolutly stupid by the selectors, in big series like this the Indian team doesn't even have a solid opening pair.

Last time Pathan opened was in the Sri Lanka series and he did well scoring 90 odd but I can't see him doing the same this time against the Pakistani pace attack consisting of Shoaib Akhtar who will be bowling 90mph bouncers and yorkers which will leave Pathan shaking in his boots!

The thought of Ganguly opening just disgusts me. What were the selectors thinking? Gangulys problems with the short ball will be creuly exposed when Shoaib Akhtar comes on to bowl, which I am in no doubt that he will bowl as many bouncers and short balls as he can in his opening spell.

I think its quite clear that the final 11 has not been picked on current form. The team had to accomodate Ganguly and therefore the natural replacement was Gambhir as he hasnt been in his best form of late (though he has been doing well)

Looking back at it, I realise how demoralising it could be for Gambhir. The Indian selection panel has been very impatient with openers. I remember SS Das was a very compact batsman with good skils for a opening batsman, played well for a while and when he failed in Australia for one series, he was immediately replaced. We need to show some confidence in young players. We should give them the opportunity to prove their worth. Gambhir is a good batsman and just because he failed against Srilanka, its not fair to replace him immediately. Ganguly might have put an end to the youngman's career with his comeback.

I have nothing against Ganguly. He is a great player who is currently out of form. But two years are a little too long for a bats man to be out of form and in the team. I hope he comes back to form in this series.
Pathan can not be a permanent opening batsman. He has good batting talent alright, but he should not be given serious responsibilities in batting. That will affect his career. Then he simply does not have the skills of an opening batter. Against oppositions like Pak, Aus or England, we need someone rocksolid in defence to play alongside Sehwag.

Yup...Ganguly might soon realise that he better have rested for a few days. Pakistan is not the right team for him to make a comeback. Shoaib has done it before and he will do it again- he will aim his rib cage. And with Ganguly's well know defence (or the lack of it), he might well crack a few bones on a bouncy pitch.

Ganguly said in an interview that he has changed his stance for the Pakistan tour. I hope his new stance enables him to defend the rising ball into the ground.

Again, having said all these, I hope he comes back to form. Afteral, his record against Pakistan is very good.

Starting 11

What should be the starting 11 against Pakistan on Saturday?

I think Ganguly should be included again as it will be unfair if he was dropped after only one test, which i think he played quite well. His bowling figures were far better than any other bowler and his fielding was the best i've seen from him in his whole life, this really shows he has the attitude which he didn't have before.

I would also like to say Rahul Dravid and Sehwag should open for India. I know that Dravid has been very successful at no.3 but i would like to see India with two solid openers. Dravid and Sehwag gel together very well when they are batting, Dravid plays the anchor role and Sehwag plays the aggressor. Also VVS Laxman would be able to play at no.3 where he has been the most successful in his career.

Anyways here is my team:

1. Virender Sehwag
2. Rahul Dravid
3. VVS Laxman
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Saurav Ganguly
6. Yuvraj Singh
7. MS Dhoni
8. Irfan Pathan
9. Agit Agakar
10. Anil Kumble
11. Harbhajan Singh

you ever seen ganguly as a opener batsman, well if you didn't let me tell you he is rubbish he can't handle the bat. Good luck to india on saturday and yes let hope no issues about weather again cause it is very annoying when they stop the match and this time make the best time win!

Thumbs down Aghkar

You guys dont need Agkhar. No offense but he is VERY slow. I think Inida will have to get Zaheer Khan in instead od Aghkar if they want chances of winning.

GO PAKISTAN
