| why so injust to agarkar? Rineeth i disagree with you in the case of agarkar.i think he is a peak exponent of fast-medium bouler for india .A man who has taken 250 wickets like him deserves much more credit.he is only 28 and i hope he will serve longer. |

| MUNAF at his best Indians selectors really found MUNAF, as a good prospect for the indian team.....He had showed his talent in the series against ENGLAND, and he was the only consistent bowler (in the test matches)in the recent Indian tour to west indies.........,where all our bowlers including PATHAN were stuggling..............MUNAF is the only bowler in India whom i think delivers the reverse swinging balls at a very good pace.......he touches mid 140 kmph Last edited by harsha : 01-08-2006 at 06:42 AM. | Indian selectors should carry out their speedster hunt in various cities.........bcoz india having 100+ population, has many young guns, who has the talent ,but are waiting for their fortunes to turn up......the selectors should take proper steps to conduct their activity without any recommendation or any sort of discrimination..........selectors had found MUNAF to some extent...........but they should select some good fast young bowlers so as to have a benchfull of bowlers ............as far as players burnouts are concerned........ |

| Nehra is playing for Delhi, and picking up wkts too but he's still a long way to go before he gets back into the Indian team. No news of Balaji and Avishkar Salvi...Ones to watch out for are Delhi's Ishant Sharma, and UP's Praveen Kumar. Kumar is a very handy batsman too. Ishant is 18 and said to be generating a lot of pace. Then you have Haryana's Joginder Sharma. He's the leading wkt-taker in the Ranjis this season and can bat too. Yes, he did play for India in Bangladesh.

| http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/ci/co...ry/273395.html Its great to see Sreesanth bowl so well in the test match against South Africa. Hopefully he can continue bowling as well as this, and adding with Munaf Patel and Pathan-India surely has one of the most promising attacks in the world!

| india always have some very good seamers. its just that they fade away when its time to move up on the ladder. they just never graduate to the next level, thanks to lack of form, fitness or perhaps maybe desire...sad to see the way agarkar and nehra have ended up. saw nehra bowl for delhi against saurashtra and he looks so old. somehow touches the 80mph mark...balaji seems to have completely disappeared...same for avishkar salvi of mumbai, who i thought would have made a very good bowler...hope pathan isnt going the same way...would hate to see him be wasted. and hopefully sreesant-munaf and zaheer make it to the next level...

The guy looks promising and will diffiantly learn a few things bowling to Dravid and Co. in the nets if gets into the squad. He should not be selected in Test match as of yet, he is too raw. He is 6ft 4" and is still growing!! Wow if he can be 6ft 5" and bowl at atleast 85mph then India have a great prospect at their hands. But at the moment I am concered with his built, he is looking like Bruce Ried of Australia- great tall bowler but could not reach his full potential because his frail body could not hack the workload of International cricket. They may be many reasons for this as you have mentioned lack of fitness, desire and form. One of the other main reason is the picthes in the domestic scene, no pace bowler aspires to bowl on them day in and day out. India is never going to churn out good pace bowlers if the bland pitches continue to exist in the domestic scene. For example Zaheer Khan has been bowling brillantly in the South African series after being dropped on poor fitness and lack of effectiveness with the ball- he corrected that by spending a season in England playing county cricket on helping pitches. Im sure Zaheer Khan would not be bowling as good as he is now if he didn't spend a season in helpful conditions. If domestic pitches begin to help bowlers more im sure India will be a major force in world cricket in the future- we are cricket mad country and nothing is impossible for us in cricket if the system is run correctly. Better pitches equals a higer chance of good pace bowlers.

| The pitches have improved over the last couple of years but we still have a very long way to go. Agree with you on Zaheer Khan. He did the right thing by going to England. Maybe, Pathan should be playing county cricket to get back into shape...what say?
