By looking at the current form of srilankans i really doubt it
because traditionally we struglled against the lankans in their backyards
i will be very cautious to give india a 30:70 chance against the srilanka
(the reason i excluded south africa was because of their inexperience in sub continental pitches against the asian spinners and medium seamers)

I will be more than happy to see our top order gets going in lanka
unfortunately our top order is the one of the most inconsistent in the world rite now
we had witnessed it somany times(as recently as windies tour)
Given the chance i would like to see dinesh mongia for the first 2 games(instead of raina/kaif)
though i not convinced all the three i mentioned still they are the one's selected for the team hence i mentioned them
it would have been great for the team had the gambir was selected
i always felt that he was too good a batsmen to leave out for the one dayers
when comparing to dinesh mongia, kaif or raina
who always struggled to rotate strike(especially kaif)
let's hope this indian does a better job than the last year's team which lost 3 matches in a row against lankans in their soil

Question why gambhir in the team squad

R u a big fan of Gambhir?.........He had left no good impression for selectors to select him......bcoz he had no good innings in ODI's in th past matches ............except for 139 against VS bangladesh last year(TEST MATCH).......he has the potential of becoming a good player but does not have any experience.......Especially his shot selection is very poor..............

but gambir is capable of giving an explosive start for the team
wheras players like kaif, raina and laxman often scores runs in a pretty slow rate with more inconsistency than the gambir
selectors are bit partial towards gambir
compared to kaif who consistently flopped in india still was sent to windies
wheras players like gambir and uthappa don't get many chances like others
i would still prefer gambir over kaif, raina, dinesh mongia

Lightbulb Laxman better than gambhir

gambhir gives an explosive start only by scoring 10 in 5or 6 balls, gets out the very next moment...........as far Laxman is concerned ,he is a far better player than gambhir...and his consistency is far better than gambhir ....I think u are impressed by his physique..and his initial debut in ODI's ...........but he is not performing ,what he is capable of............that's why the selectors just removed him from the squad ....I am sure he will be reconsidered he he performs well in the domestic cricket.......I agree that he can be in the squad for kaif or raina.....but these two are very good fielders than him..........Gambhir can get back into the team if he improves his shot selection............

harsha if iam not wrong
he didn't do that well against pakistan in abudhabi
you have mentioned he is having more shot than gambir i tend to disagree with you on this
if you would have closely folled karnataka ranji trophy matches in chinnaswamy stadium or any televised matches you would have answer now
he is very of restricted to long off and long on
he is not very good cutter or the puller of the ball
his only strength is laughted drives through long off and long on
wheras gambir is having all shots in his kitty
be it hook, pull, or cuthe is perfect blend of all shots
and he is infact proven to be much more devastating than sehwag in whatever amny matches he played for india
i am sure uttappa is good dashing opener
but gambir is touch better than uttapa and deserved a chance in the srilanka tour

Laxman better than gambir yes i agree only when the race is No 1 in slower running between the wicket
Laxman is better than gambir yes i agree if the competition is for who is Best butter finger in the fielding
Laxman is better than gambir yes i agree if only the team needs a player who will play only one good innings out of 15 then stay in the team for next 6 tests on the laurels of that innings
Laxman is better than Gambir yes i agree if India wants most incositent batsmen and fielder with tortoise legs and butter fingers
