Question NKP Salve Challenger Series

Anybody here who can give me some more information on this please?

I see our satellite network will be broadcasting all of these matches live, but I have no idea what this trophy is about.

First game is on Sunday, 1 October. India blue vs India red.

Okay, I have just cricinfoed, and found out its some sort of a "knock-out" between 2 sides. India A and India B. And they'll be called India Blue and India Red this year. (according to our broadcaster)

Must say, it looks really interesting. And this is the first time ever that we will have a domestic series of another country broadcast live here in South Africa. I can't wait! (we had the Stanford 20/20 games this year, but not live)

Will be nice to have a good look at the "fringe" players for India.

Thumbs up

Thanks bat!

We have had a discussion about it on a local message board (safrican) and it seems like there is a whole lot of interest about it already. Sub-continental cricket has a HUGE following in South Africa.

I see the teams have been posted on cricinfo too...India Blue, Red and Green. With really big names in all the teams.

Just one thing that is still unclear to me. What is the format for the games? Are they limited overs games? These 3 teams play each other once and then there's a final? or not?

yes this is a limited overs game(like odi)
with each team facing other once before entering the final based on the points table
this time its going to be in my city(working)chennai the pitch here usually have good bounceasisting both bowlers and good batsmen and also outfield is lightening under the lights there won't be much dew either
i hope it will be an entertaing short tournament

Thanks again.

I see Ganguly will be playing for one of the sides. Sure a lot of fans will want to see him perform really well here.

Nice to see that one of my favourite bowlers Balaji, is back as well. Hope he too does well. Performed really great in Pakistan 2 years ago... Sadly seems a bit injury prone though...

India Red won the first match. 280 all out in their 50 overs, with Gautam Ghambir run out on 110. Other notable score came from Rao, with 67. For the Blues, Patel and Pathan took 3 wickets each.

Tendulkar was the highest scorer for the Blues, with 61. Yuvraj made 57. Harbhajan hit a few lusty blows at the end, but with no assistance from the other tailenders, it was all over...VRV Singh and Zaheer Khan was the best bolwers for the Reds.

Next game today, India Blue against India Green.

Well Tendulkar produced a genius knock and Ganguly scored 24.

A bit of a one-sided affair although India Blue are the CT squad so they do have some form advantage (if the right choices were made).
