Grag Chappell as India's coach

Has Greg Chappell made any difference to the Indian team since becoming the coach? Has there been any improvement in Indian team's performance since he took control?

As far as i can see...the team has gone backwards... with more of a reliance on dravid then anything else...i think it has had a negative impact!

i would say atleast 75% of improvement came only after greg's arrival
especially in fielding and running between the wickets
and also removal of some old out of form players

They basically have not moved at all, but its in no way Chappell's fault. Chappell has weeded out some redundant players and tried to strike a nice balance in the line-up. We saw this during thier impressive streak last year.I beleive on paper there is very little wrong with the team.

Its the mental battle they are losing. Playing well in patches and then suddenly playing like rubbish will not get them anywhere. They need to graft the runs, bowl with discipline, earn the key wickets and partnerships. New Zealand and South Africa showed exactly this in the Champions trophy. Chappell did what he had to do, its up to the guys now.

I think Greg would be better suited to being a personal coach to Sachin Tendulkar and Raul Dravid. Tactically I consider him flawed.
If you want a team selector leadership mentor I would have chased his older brother Ian.

India were in brilliant form for about a year, but then they started moving downwards.I think they would have continued their good form if it were not for those experiments he was trying.

Greg's desire to convert Irfan Pathan into an all-rounder put him in the middle of no man's land finally resulting in his exclusion from the team.

agree with acker on ian chappell. greg's greatest achievement has been, IMHO, ganguly's removal from the team. damn, he's back! what do you guys say? would tom moody have made a better coach?
