Which Indian batsman do you most enjoy watching?

India has had quite a good crop of fine batsmaen over the past decade, but admittedly they don't seem to fire at every opportunity. If you were given a chance to watch one of them (irrespective of his current form or overall record) for a few hours going full cry at the opposition in his own distictive style, who would you rather it be?

Tendulkar at his best would surely have to get the vote every time for audacity, but I could see a case for pausing to consider the grace of Dravid and the Gower-like finesse of Laxman. Quite why the others even merit a place on the poll completely escapes me!

I actually voted for Ganguly myself. I know that he has his weaknesses, but he is great when on song. There are few who can pierce the off-side cordon like him and when set he can really make those sixes look easy.

Sachin Tendulkar has got to be the best batsman when he's in form.

Rachael, I made it quite clear in the question that I was not looking for an opinion on the best batsman of that lot, but the one that you (and the others) would most like to watch when he is playing really well in his unique style - in other words, his big innings on that occasion is taken for granted. If this was a South African forum for example, an 'irregular' batsman like Lance Kleusener would have qualified for a place in the running. The overall capabilites or record are irrelevant.

If it is any help, I do too believe that Tendulkar or Dravid are better batsmen than Ganguly, but in full flow it is the latter that I like most to watch. Likewise, if given a choice of watching one big innings by either Bradman or McCabe (but not both), I'd choose McCabe.

Got to be Tendulkar. The only other Indian batsman who has come close to his class that i have seen is Vengsarker (i can't remember Gavaskar as well) but Sachin isn't as highly rated for nothing.

In terms of simply aesthetic appeal, my vote goes to Yuvraj. When he is really going, his almost dismissive strokeplay is a real treat to watch. Sachin and VVS closely follow.

Tendulkar should gracefully retire now. Not only he will preserve the dignity but follow the foot marks of Don Bradman by getting out on zero in his last game.
