It was pretty obvious, I mean, he can coach them but can not go out in the field and play for them.
Rightly so he said, 'To be like Australia, you can't work like Zimbabwe'.

According to reports Graham Ford was approached and the other candidate Arjuna Ranatunga?

No Indians shortlisted then. At least not for the head coach position.

This sub-continental coach hunting is getting interesting.

I do wish India would stop trying to nick Kent's coaches!

I was about to say Ford's under contract at Kent... but after looking around I'm so sure any more. Bugger.

Curioser and curioser...

According to this report http://content-rsa.cricinfo.com/ci/c...ry/296986.html John Emburey is the 2nd man on the BCCI's (very) shortlist.

Ford & Emburey. Speculations of Ranatunga and Duncan Fletcher laid to rest..

It'll be Ford then. Unless life throws another surprise in this general direction, Emburey isn't exactly the greatest coach as his record proves.

Well, seems like Emburey has the support of at least one member of the panel. Sunil Gavaskar.

Ford got some support from SA coach Mickey Arthur...

Its Ford then. But as he is still on contract with Kent until September, he has not officially accepted yet it seems.

Well, that's 1 done, 3 to go.

If Ford gets the go-ahead to link up with the Indian squad, I can see him doing very well there. One would expect him to get the best out of the players - they were the ones that wanted him, now they have their wish.

Well well well... Ford's turned the job offer down, opting to stay with Kent:

http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/india...ry/297675.html

Does that mean Emburey is now the only candidate?

Would Emburey take the position if offered, with him knowing he was the second choice??
