But that is the truth, isn't it? Calling someone a 'monkey' in India is the lightest of jibes, second only to calling someone a donkey. People use those words to mock their own children or siblings quite commonly. On the other hand, it is totally unaccepable to call someone a b*****d unless you are picking for a fight or worse. In the school I went to back in 1966, a boy was permanently suspended for using the word to another student within earshot of the teacher.

In the West, I have seen people rather free and easy with the b-word, something that I cannot get used to even after 23 years of living here.

Well, "monkey" may not be a terrible insult in India, so I can accept that maybe the crowds didn't mean it in that context. But surely Harbhajan must of known of the controversy, and must have known how it would appear to Symonds when he called him that in Sydney (assuming he did, of course). So even if it wasn't racist per se, it surely had to be deliberate and intended to cause offense.

Regarding the aliens- I personally believe that there is other life out there, but I do not believe that advanced aliens would devote their time to making patterns in our corn crops and abducting farmers from New Mexico. And it sounds like this David Icke character spends way too much time watching V: The Miniseries.

if u read my entire post Nostromo...i was saying exactly what Aurelius said....this whole monkey controversy was publicized during the one day series in India about 3-4 months back, there were even a couple of people arrested for making those baboon gestures!!!....if its not a big deal for calling people monkeys in india then why didn't BCCI take up this issue at that time?? when a player is banned on an allegation of making monkey comments..BCCI and chetan chauhan say monkey is not a huge insult and saying the b-word is far more insulting, its just suggests that ur defensive and something must be wrong...in the West the b-word is not that big a deal...maybe the ICC needs to come up with a universal code on what words are acceptable...there is talk of the stump mic recording evidence now...wonder where the evidence was for so long...? and the BCCI is on the backfoot saying the evidence maybe doctored and threatening to pull out...lots of sinister undercurrents in this issue!!! but if bhajji did say it....it would be honest to come in the open and apologize for his remarks and accept the decision...even warne was banned for using steroids... accepted the ban and came back strong!!!

A player should not bothered about the comments passing by the spectators.
Cause it could affect the performance of player.

I had seen the match closely

Thanks for the reply..But the fact is that players job is only to play and not minding the audience..i saw the last match of India vs Australia at cochin ..i got the ground entry pass and saw all the players behind the running board..when Lee,ponting and all was fielding at that point..the audience was hashing bad words to the and they were not minding at all..actually Symonds has to learn from this...
