| i know that the IPL is not a huge thing in england where test cricket is given more importance. but i'm sure the IPL will in future be a stage for upcoming cricketers...as interaction with the greats of the game will help young cricketers immensely.IPL will gain momentum and will be talked a lot in the future.
frankly speaking a player who is good in one format should be able to play the other. and frankly speaking T20 is not just slam bang cricket...its about playing good strokes and middling the ball, running the 2's, 3's, solid bowling variations from bowlers and agility in the field.
i have seen sangakarra play gr8 innings in test matches and he's been superb in IPL. katich was brilliant in the pura cup with the highest runs ever recorded in a single season, and he's played a couple of good knocks before he left.
rahul dravid and laxman who r known to be test players played a couple of good knocks.the adaptability and ability to read the situations seperates the really good players from the rest.
we all agree that in this day and age with so much more limited overs cricket people have to be able to adapt to the three forms of cricket fairly quickly.
i understand the skill of grafting has gone down over the years due to the overdose of limited over cricket, but cricket has to meet the demand of the viewers and maybe thats the reason why football is more popular in england as its more exciting. u find english cricket spectators more sobre and indian cricket spectators more passionate to the point of being hooligans. maybe that was innovative formats like pro-40 and T20 was created in england to attract more viewership and make it more exciting, but that hasn't yet created that madness that exists in english football. |
