| Shoaib Akhtar banned for five years A PCB disciplinary committee has banned Akhtar for five years. He is 32/33....I think his international career is as good as over.

He could have been banned when he hit a team mate in the dressing room. He could have been banned for the drugs controversy. He could have been banned when he faked injury to avoid bowling. He could have been banned when on several occasions he refused to listen to to his captain. But PCB pampered him all these years and banned him when he started criticizing PCB...tells you how how PCB operates.

| Well, there are some players that can never escape controversy and he is one of them.

| Couldn't have happened to a nicer fellow. |

| shouldn't this be in the Pakistan forum....but i digress I fully support this.........5yrs ago. I am a die-hard cricket fan and even more so for Pakistan and I've been waiting for this day for a long time, but not today. This shows a lack to professionalism not on the players part(we already know he has no such thing inside him) but on the part of the PCB. The ENTIRE administration needs to go and change (REAL CHANGE) needs to come. For Pakistan crickets sake i hope something meaningful comes from the fall out of this. |

| The way his career has gone he will win his appeal and will be back playing for Pakistan without any fuss. However, with the current ICL/IPL developments though, I am certain he will soon be flying to India with a very lucrative contract. |

| I just want to clarify what a ban is. Is it that he wont be able to play for pakistan or in thier domestic cricket. Or is it that he wont be able to play anywhere.

| He can't play in Pakistan for anybody, or play for Pakistan anywhere. Other than that he can play anywhere, although if he needs a No objection certificate to go somewhere (England, IPL etc.) I think its unlikely he'd be given one. |
