West Indies v Sri Lanka- 2nd test 3.4.2008

What do you think can west indies get any sort of result from the match. After being beaten in the first test, and with sri lankans leading 1-0, the best result that they can look for is a draw I think. I said it before and will say it again, I just cant see from where the next test win is going to come for the west indians.

It's as I said before the first Test- if the Windies bowlers can restrict Sangakara and Jayawardene's run-scoring, then the gap between the two teams drops considerably. 5-217 is a pretty good result for the West Indies- if they can get Dilshan out early and bowl them out for 260-270, then they'll have a very good shot of getting the lead.

There have been so many occasions when the West Indies have been in a good position and still lost the match - we'll have to wait and see - they'll probably lose, as usual...

Well, I see that Samuels didn't do much. In all honesty, either Smith or Samuels are going to fail every time- they'll never both do well in one innings. One of those spaces would be better filled with a spinner.

Just ask yourself, in all honesty- how do we know how good or bad Benn and Jaggernaught are if we never play them? Obviously, playing with just ten players isn't an option, so I don't really see what point you're trying to make. It seems to me that you've already made your mind up about the spinners, despite the fact that they've not been given a chance, on the ground that they're West Indian, and, therefore, rubbish. Seems kind of circular to me, but, hey, as long as it makes sense to one of us...

A good performance by the Windies, claiming victory by 6 wickets. Shame it's only a two-test series.

But I think it conforms what I've been saying- the difference between these two sides hinges largely on the presence of Sangakara and Jayawardene. These two had poor matches, and it told in the result.

One thing I hope that doesn't happen is that the selectors take this result as evidence that their stupid policy of choosing three quicks and six batsmen works, when it patently doesn't. They must replace one of the batsmen with a spinner, and they must replace one of the bowlers (preferably Powell) with another pace bowler, Collymore maybe. Pigs might fly, though.

I think it rather silly to play two and four test series - one ends up with a tied series like this one between SL and WI. Rather typical victory for the West Indians - their opponents played badly and lost, though praise due to Chanders and Sarwan...
