England & India agree 2011 series

BBC SPORT | Cricket | England & India agree 2011 series

I don't see the point in playint 2 tests... kinda defeats the object of a potential series win for me... does this mean test cricket's number's up?

Hardly. That article says that the agreement is for 4 tests in 2011- I think the two-test series later this year is due to the constraints of the Champions Trophy.

This looks eminently sensible to me - and perhaps heralds a departure from the understanding that tours need to be run on a reciprocal basis. Last time around, there were far too many ODIs in England (and too few tests) for the English appetite, at least to my memory. I have no objection to playing several ODIs in India, where the audiences like them, and fewer ODIs and more tests in England where that seems to be what the public demands there. Well done to both boards on this arrangement.

completely agree with you OF
It would be wiser to have more limited overs game herein india rather than in england(opposite for the Tests)
though in india we could still see better test crowd than many other countries still the limited overs game is the first choice for many fans so its a good decision.
Personally,i would've liked to see a 3 Test series but it seemed impossible with the kind of FTPs the ICC've made with

would have to agree only 2 tests is ridiculous.. but lets have two more mickey mouse meaningless knockabouts instead of having 5 . Of course everyone is so busy playing in the 'champions' trophy another meaningless competition that nobody cares about . Makes me laugh, everyone dissed the ICC Super Series thingey in 2005 saying it was wasting a month, ie october ..but at least that had potential...seems time is being wasted regularly on a 2 year basis anyway.

I have always been disappointed by the no of test matches india plays in a test series. We dont have a 5 test match series. And play 4 tests only against 3 nations- Englanf, Aus, and WI. The indian board always tries to minimise the no of test matches in a series and increases the no of odi's. it has happened a lot in the past. Especially against smaller nations like ne zealand.
