Fixtures: Australia tour of England, 2009...

Going to seem strange no Test cricket at Old Traffors or Trent Bridge.
July.
Wed 8 - Sun 12
1st Test - England v Australia
Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

Thu 16 - Mon 20
2nd Test - England v Australia
Lord's, London

Thu 30 - Mon 3
3rd Test - England v Australia
Edgbaston, Birmingham
August
Fri 7 - Tue 11
4th Test - England v Australia
Headingley, Leeds

Sat 15 - Sun 16
5th Test - England v Australia

Good to see Test Cricket back at Headingley, not sure that breaking with tradition and NOT playing the first Test at Lords is a good move.
Better to get the defeat early on for England IMO.

I'm not so sure Ern. One could say it would be better to get off to a good start for a change. If England get a win in the first test, it might well give them momentum to go to Lords and win that one as well.

I must say that i am disappointed that they did not go for a 6 test series. I know C.A were pushing for it (both in England and Australia) but the ECB vetoed it.

Surely Lord's has only had the first test for about the last five or six years? My "traditional" memory (for which read ancient) is that it was always the second test that was played there. No time to check!

I agree it's a shame to see Trent Bridge fall out of the schedule.

Is that really three tests in three weeks (third, fourth and fifth)? Will these administrators never learn?
