Sounds like Collingwood will be back. Why not select a batsman instead? Oh, and the momentum seems to be gathering around the recall for Harmison. I assume Geraint Jones and Hoggard will be back soon? Backwards, always backwards.

Well they have to do something as the balance of the side was all wrong at Headingley.I felt sorry for Ambrose and Pattinson who were both on to a loser before the game started.

I won't even try to predict what will happen as they shocked us all last week and i can see another surprise this time around.

So your telling me you would rather look to this never ending future than go back less than a year to players who, when selected WON test matches?

Im all for a happy future but i'd much prefer a winning team, even if it meant calling back players either fairly or unfairly dropped, less than 12 months ago, who are performing in the national setup, where they have been asked to.

I'm not convinced Harmison is the answer. What will he do in India? Will he go? If he does, will he moan about being away from his native North East? Who says he won't turn up and bowl trash again?

For me Team England is too much of a clique. Vaughan likes to keep his mates in the side, how else can yopu justify the prospect of bringing Collingwood back in ahead of Bopara? He's not scored enough runs for a good while and does not deserve to be selected. I reallt couldn't care less if he's ODI captain, he hasn't justified selection.

Your comment about people who've on Test Matches: well Ian Botham did but you wouldn't pick him. Harmison's won a few but his bowling has lost us a few too. Remember the tone he set in Brisbane? That's more recent than any of his successes.

He wouldn't if I were buying the tickets. Maybe he's a home player only? Not that I much like that idea either. To be honest, his problems with playing outside his own back yard make Harmison a bit of a reserve choice for me.

Its so nice to read people with such a similar mindset to my own. Even Rachel these days hasn't disappeared behind a Collingwood be-decked in a god-like glow.

Top finisher... not!

So we've got Harmison and Hoggard the home-bods... Collingwood who scores heavily against Test sides lacking their main strike force or Bangladesh, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Ummm yup it looks like a recall for those guys doesn't it?

Have to agree with whoever the hell it was yesterday who said "we can't go forward before we've dropped Vaughan behind us."

Oh... it was me!

Not sure I agree with you on that one, though. Hoggy has often done England proud on foreign shores.

I've said earlier, I would love for the England management to instruct the groundsmen at Edgbaston and The Oval to prepare a wicket that will turn from Day One. Monty and Swann will have enough to bowl the Saffers out with assistance from Sid, Jimmy and Fred. Stick Prior behind the stumps (notice I don't use the word "wicketkeeper"!) and we've got a balanced side. Vaughan will play because no-one's got the guts to drop him! That said, I would have

Cook
Strauss (capt)
Bell
Pietersen
Bopara
Prior
Flintoff
Swann
Sidebottom
Anderson
Panesar

If two spinners aren't needed I'd have Simon Jones back in there, or Chris Tremlett.

Perhaps in this strange fantasy world of non-keeping wicket-keepers we could tell Prior, Ambrose, Mustard etc., to sling their hooks and ask Mark Ramprakash to have a go at standing behind!

I'm sure he's just as likely to average 25 as all of those other chaps with the proviso that occasionally he might take a catch too, or even make quite a useful score.

No ridiculous... stupid fantasy... his time is past.

Besides, I understand that since he reached his ninety-ninth century he hasn't been able to buy a run.

That sounds better to me Notts: Playing two spinners can go horribly wrong.

Also with South Africa one match up in the series, blocking Monty and Swann would be easier than Simon Jones or Harmison.
Playing two spinners IMO is asking for a draw.

Otherwise I agree with your team, dropping Vaughan included - Not convinced by Bopara as a replacemnet though. I think I would rather have dropped Vaughan down the order to 6, and see what happens.

Or swap him for Rob Key.
