Well well, this is interesting! If the plan is still to select a shortlist of three openers, then we need a tiebreaker for Haynes and Hayden (both on 5). I suppose that if no one votes for Hayden or Haynes from now on, Haynes might clinch it being Acker's "third" choice.

Nothing is ever straight forward is it?

I didn't vote for either, but I'd go along with Haynes (despite preferring Slater) whilst I could name stacks openers of recent vintage (including Slater, Taylor, Langer, Gooch, Atherton, Vaughan, Trescothick, Strauss, Smith, Kirsten and Richardson) who I'd take over Hayden.

That said, I can't see this XI including more than the odd player I can stomach

I wouldn't be so sure. We're already getting the spin twins, with a couple of good fast bowlers competing for places. I've heard you express admiration for three of the four middle-order favourites, too.

I think that whoever makes this team, it's going to be a pretty awesome one.

I'm only guessing but is Rachael not a fan of Gilchrist?
