Actually the incompetent BCCI doesn't have an up and running website just as yet(it should be in place shortly) where there is exact information on where to buy tickets, its always confusing for foriegners!!!. I would imagine since its a test match you should get the tickets fairly easily at Ferozshah Kotla itself if you went there a day or two prior to the start of the match, you might even get them on the same morning as well.ODI and T20 match tickets are virtually impossible to get, with long queues and stampedes. Online ticketing is not a very popular method but has been used during the IPL and some recent international cricketing events in Bangalore.

The prices for a ODI/T20 would range between Rs.250(~$6) to Rs.2500(~$60). I am not exactly sure about test match prices but I would imagine it should be much lesser, I would highly suggest that you go for tickets higher than or about Rs 1000(~$25) as they invariably have better seating and view. It would be so much easier if you were watching the Bangalore test match(same series) or the Champions League for which you would need to keep checking Ticketpro for updates.

If you feel uncomfortable buying the tickets after you get here, keep checking if the BCCI has released its much-delayed website BCCI.tv by then and has info on buying tickets online. I think there just might a little more public interest in this series considering the events in the last series down under, but my instinct says you should be able to get tickets easily, considering tickets for India vs Pakistan test match in Kotla last november were easily available.October is one of the best times to visit delhi as the weather is really good, so you should have a good time watching the match. I'll keep you updated if I get any more info.

have a look at the following article. Dont worry it wont nearly be as bad for a test match :-)
BBC SPORT | Cricket | England | India's fan stampede

Fake ticket scams do occur in India, but are more likely to happen for one days and T20s. There was an occasion in Hyderabad where almost 20 k people where stranded outside of lal bahadur shastri stadium for an ODI between IND and NZ, where in sachin scored 185. For test matches, you should easily be getting if u make an attempt say 3 days before. As it features AUS, it maybe a sell out if tried on the same day, but if tried some 3 days before, you should be able to get it. Just ask your hotel receptionist , they will find it out for you.

I'd love to go to a Test match or any international match in India. I'm coming back to India again in November, are India playing any home matches at the end of November? I'll probably need a flight to wherever the Test match is....

I hardly go overseas as I hate flying legs over 5 hours (hence why I will probably never go to England) but I have been tempted to do a Melb-Perth/Darwin-Singapore-Chennai/Mumbai now we have budget airways such as Tiger.

I have been told tickets to Test matches in India are generally readily available.

Here is the itinerary for the winter tours in India, Speedboy. Is there ever a time India aren't playing cricket??
India Vs Australia
October 9-13-1st Test, Bangalore
October 17th-21st 2nd Test, Mohali
October 29th-Nov 2 3rd Test, Delhi
November 6-10 4th Test, Nagpur

India Vs England
November 14 1st ODI v India, Rajkot
November 17 2nd ODI v India, Indore
November 20 3rd ODI v India, Kanpur
November 23 4th ODI v India, Jamshedpur
November 26 5th ODI v India, Cuttack
November 29 6th ODI v India, Guwahati
December 2 7th ODI v India, Delhi

December 11-15 1st Test v India, Ahmedabad
December 19-23 2nd Test v India, CCI Mumbai

Except for the ODI in Delhi you should be able to get tickets for the rest of the matches fairly easily. Take a pick!!!

Delhi test match

hey Greenandwhite. I'll also be in New Delhi around that time and am really keen to see the first day or two of that test match. If you're travelling alone and would like someone to go with I'll be more than happy to accompany. It sounds like tickets won't be too hard to get hold of if you try a couple of days before. Me names Jamie, 21, will just be finishing a few months of travellin Asia and an Indian test match seems like the ideal way to round things off!
Give us a message if you're up for it, Jamie

Slightly curious as to why greenandwhite and sma5jp are interested in watching an India-Aus match being England supporters themselves ?! )
Anyways, guys, if you do manage to find out a source to buy earlier than 2 -3 days, would appreciate a post back. Been in delhi for a few years now but never managed to catch a match - have to this time!

cheers
ananya

Hello,

I just called the bank thats selling the tickets for the match - unfortunately they are closed now (Saturday half day) and are closed tomorrow (weekly off). However, they confirmed that they have the tickets available with them. I will be going to the branch to buy my tickets on Monday morning.

Happy to get tickets for you if you give me the details of day/stand you want the tickets for. You can then pick-up your tickets from me when you're here. I plan to buy the season tickets for myself.

Cheers,
Tiger
