Talk about selective fact finding!! Murali might bowl more overs, but the fact that he has a similar strike rate (actually a tiny tiny shade better than warne) would indicate that this is irrelevant. Strike rate = bowls/wickets Again about the getting hit for over a 100, if Murali bowled 62 overs got hit 150 runs and took 9 wickets i'd take that as a captain anyday, see just saying in the same breath that Murali bowls 62 overs a match and he gets hit for more than a 100 more often is well... Anyway that fact indicates absolutely nothing as I have shown above. The difference in away averages is not very big 1 run infact. Add to this the 116.0 average Murali has in Aus ... that skews results quite a bit! We all know why Murali had such a hopeless average in Aus in the only two matches he played there. I don't need to start that up again! The sharing of the wickets can be looked at in two ways. The pressure of the other bowlers cause Warne to take more wickets is one very defenite point. Also it doesn't make sense to say that since Murali is the only wicket taker he benifits from taking the lower order wickets, because to take the lower order wickets you have to take the top order first .. DUH! But as I said before there is no seprerating the two!

Shane Warne is diffinatly the best spinner in my opinon. He has bowled magnificently these past 13 years, and who can forget that dilivery to Mike Gatting. The only place which he hasn't really put the batsmen in a spin has been in India where he is given nightmares about Sachin Tendulkar hitting him down the ground for six! One would imagine him prosering on the dust bowls of india but you can't have everything. He has bowled outstandingly well on picthes which wouldn't even help him, unlike Murali who has doctored picthes made for him. The only negative thing about Shane Warne has been the use of drugs in the 2003 world cup. The best finger spinner has to be Bedi of India. The complete spinner in my opinon, he could bowl in the air and off the picth like a master.

Fair enough You are entitled to your opinion of course, but let's please not start this all over again!!

another "lefty" who got little recognition because he was playing for Yorkshire at the time of Verity, was Arthur Booth.

Warne for me, didn't see Richie bowl but I understand he was a fine bowler too. "Deadly" Derek Underwood was totally unplayable on a damp pitch, that was in the days of uncovered pitches though (he was still a ruddy good bowler though).

Definitely Warne and Murali... But I voted for Qadir. Just wish I was around then. I'm going purely on what I've heard and read about the man.

reason being on the right type of surface he is nearly un playable
