| Yorker, You're right. A good spinner needs to have some grey matter! Outsmarting a batsman is one of the basic requirements for spinners, I think. Or else he'll just "place" the ball anf hope for the best You say in England you are losing the art of spin....Well, my good man, South Africa has already completely lost it. And with the current crop playing at provincial level, there's actually only one or two worth mentioning. Sad really, because spin bowling is one of the things I love to watch most at test level. Anyway, your ideas about a certain amount of overs having to be bowled at test level seems like a good one...although there are some wrinkles to be ironed out...It will certainly encourage spinners coming through at an earlier level. And test playing countries will have "spinner camps" as much as they're having "fast bowler camps". But, in what way do you think the captains should be able to appeal to a third umpire? Or when do they appeal? After 20 overs....30...40? Can they appeal before the match, when the team is announced and they don't see a spinner? Or can the opposition captain then say :"HEy, we have a spinner, our batsman who comes in at no 4 can actually turn his arm over...so that makes him a spinner!" BTW...I saw a little bit of Underwood. Not bad at all. But England will not have a picnic in Pakistan. If all the rumours are true, we will be in for some turning tracks, and England's spinning cupboard is a little bare...Don't you think? |

| Am really surprised to see the names of Chandrashekhar missing from the list. I consider him nothing less than shane warne. Also I think the name of Prassana should be there. |

| Shane Warne brings more than just his bowling to the crease. Although Murali ain't far behind.
