Exclamation

As far as I am concerned, there are no "batters" in cricket, only "batsmen".

Ponting wins it by a country mile (and a half). He is scoring runs with such ease at the moment I think he could post quite a few centuries this year, it will be interesting though to see if he can bat as well as he is now against England at the end of the year.

Sachin has to be number one for me. Having seen him play with so much style against England over the years, and games against other sides, he has impressed me the most and I just love watching him play.

DomianK,

Great I will create a poll - "most overated Test Batsman" and Tendulkar will be the only option!

Well im just surprised Vaughan is actually on this list. He is very incosistent. Plays very ordinary shots and makes alot of mistakes.

The same could be said for Gilchrist to be honest. He is not batting great at the moment and I think he should play one innings where he doesn't go all guns blazing to give himself some runs, this will give him confidence and then he go on from there.

I am sure I said all this in an earlier post?

Brock! Interesting typo there, anyway, yea. Just thought I would voice my views also, sorry if it seemed like I was just regurgitating things that had already been said.

Some one said that Gilchrist needs to take his time and get some runs. Gilchrist is the kind of batsman who is more likely to go out being defensive or playing a little shot than hitting the ball hard. Ponting at the moment is batting brilliantly at the moment and he deserves to be named the best batsman in the world at the current time. But Lara is the best batsman that i have ever seen. I think that tendulkar is over rated, I dont think he is the best batsman in the Indian side, I think that Dravid is one of the best batsman i have ever seen i would put him before Tendulkar.

Sachin is overrated if you discount the fact that he has single handedly destroyed the "best spin bowler" the world has ever seen.
