| Am surprised that the name of Dravid is missing from that list. |

| There are a number of odd ones, on current form Vaughan doesn't really deserve to be on the list, nor does Gilchrist. Kallis and Hayden are notable omissions along with Dravid, Johanna and Shewag.... what about Gibbs or Smith or Kamal or even Afridi!! As it is Ponting will win, as he is by far the best batter currently, only the most biased will see that... |

| On current form Ponting is the best batsman. Overall I feel Lara is the best, followed by Tendulkar, but at this point in time no-one could argue it's not Ponting. It's true that you really do have to get him early. Early on he jumps around the crease, meaning he's never quite sure where that off-stump is and can also be trapped LBW leaping too far to the off-side. His leg-side play is practically second to none, he times his leg-glances and pulls perfectly, seeming to have all the time in the world to wait for the shorter pitched ball to reach him. Once he is settled his balance improves (his hopping is more controlled) and it is then that he can start to read line and length better. To fuller balls he gets well forward and creams it through the covers or down the ground with a nice straight bat. When he is in, his lightning-reactions, superb judgement of length and great balance allows him to be in the best positions to time his shots, off front or back foot. Next time you watch him and he is playing well, just look at how long he appears to have to play the ball! Last edited by Lemming : 17-01-2006 at 05:48 PM. |

My answer in the poll though is still Lara. Ponting followed by Hayden/Hussey would be my answer for who is the most "in form" batsman around. Sadly, Mark5dc did not ask this. Last edited by Ernest : 17-01-2006 at 07:43 PM. Reason: Full quote used. |

| There is something seriously wrong with my mouse. Whereever it sees Tendulkar, it just sticks there and clicks. Well...jokes apart, since multiple options were enabled, I voted for all those who I think are in good shape. Thats y I immediately pointed out that Dravid's name is missing. I think he is one of the best test batsmen today. |

| Yeah, I agree with what Flanflinger said!
