So that's the Trescothick affair poorly handled
The Strauss/Flintoff captaincy issue poorly handled.
The Giles/Panesar issue poorly handled.
The Jones/Read issue poorly handled.
Mahmoud's bowling in the last practice match - poorly handled.

Can anybody think of any reasons why Duncan Fletcher should be asked to leave his post?

I say, I feel a poll coming on.

The consultant also said that they felt Tres would be ready for the Ashes. That, and Tres's own feelings on the matter, were the basis for selection. As it turns out he wasn't, but that's not a fault of the selectors or even the consultant. Misdiagnoses can happen, recommendations can be wrong.....as has been pointed out above, dealing with conditions such as this is not an exact science.

The decision to pick Tres was the right one, the decision for him to come home was the right one. Simple.

I agree, Trescothick is not going bare his soul to all, also is it depression - or personal problems he is sufferning from.

From my understanding the selectors spoke the organisation who has been helping Marcus, and had been assured that he would be ok for the Ashes, but it turned out that they were wrong

It just seems that he has suffered a very bad recurrance, and it is always likely, and very very sad. There should be no finger pointing, just allow Marcus and his family time to heal, and lets hope that one day he feels able to pick up a Cricket bat and play again.

Apparently Trescothick asked Fletcher if his family could come out sooner for a little bit of support. Fletcher refused.

And the rest, as they say, is history.
