Earlier I had forecast the match to be over by the end of 4th day or early on 5th day. It now appears that the match may not even go into the 4th day.

It will go that far as i reckon that Bell will have a partnership with at least one of KP or Freddie.Might not last much into the afternoon of day 4 though the way it's going.

Well 6 sessions into the series and Australia have won 5 of them and England marginally got the better of the 2nd session today. It doesn't half show in the scorecard.

Tomorrows opening session probably decides the match as if Australia get 2 or 3 wickets then it is game over for this test but if England get through it only losing 1 wicket or better still unscathed then they still have a slim chance of saving the follow on.

Australia have come hard out of the traps just as they did in 2005.Have England got enough about them this time to come back like they did then?

What an absolute shocker of a game. On a flat wicket England produced the gumption to give away three wickets when they really needed to get there heads down and concentrate. Poor shot from Strauss,(who wanted to be captain!!) Poorer shot from Cook (who's learning I suppose)
After the second day the predictions become easier
Australia will win this test at a canter unless bell and peterson (who came to the crease and looked to score and then remembered the situation....)both score double tons; but i predict the follow on and australia wont have to bat again. i hope I'm wrong, but it seems a bridge to far at the moment.
Who'll have a blinding ashes? well Michael vaughn cos he might not play.

This test summed up then

Australia to win by an innings
Best bowler brett lee
best bat Ricky ponting

Next test predictions

see above.....

I have never ever seen such a shambolic performance from england in all my life; they just seemed not up for it at all. Australia are in the box seat now. England's only hope is to bat untill tea on day four. The only ray of light for England?
Flintoff. Again

From the very first ball we could see which way this was going. At the end of day 1 we were so far behind it was silly. We got some of that back and then let Brett Lee and Stuart Clark score key runs. 500 odd is OK but 600 is difficult to respond to. Strauss needs shooting. I thought Cook got a good ball. Collingwood played a very poor cricket shot to a stock delivery that wasn't truly dangerous.

Jones and Giles will, unfortunately, get the chance to prove why they are in the side.

No excuse for top class batsemn getting out to McGrath in such a manner, then again Strauss even though can get scores in not dependable.

Cook should never have been in the side, fancy playing a rookie against Australia in their own back yard.

I expected these two not to be reliable, but was dissapointed with Collingwood.

It's the bowling that let England down, Harmison was always a gamble after his terrible series against South Africa, Hoggard rusty as you like, and Anderson is now rewarding Fletcher for all them months as a tea boy.

Dropping Warne did not help either.

England still could get 400, you never know - the top order like I have been saying is now out, and must be changed for the second test.

Of course we are seeing some gloating, but Australia won in 2005 at Lords, and England have not lost this yet.

keep thinking like that greg - don't let the pessismists get at you, the match is not over yet, and even if England don't make this one, they can regroupe as in 2005.

Ponting and Langer have got Australia into this possition, they demoralised the poor England bowling, KP and Flinoff and Bell may as well go after Warne and Mcgrath, so good standing there waiting to get out.
