Australia bowling defensively maybe they thought they were over attacking in 2005?

Well so much for all those who criticised Bell and Colly for going slow earlier on.The run rate is now acceptable and it is a good game of cricket.

England need to get through tonight and Australia desperately need a wicket, preferably KP in their case.

All in all a pretty good day for England. Don't think Australia will be that disappointed either.

Hopefully Colly will go on tomorrow and complete a much deserved 100.

England in a good position at close on day 1. From England's point of view this pair should continue well into the second day mainly because they are one wicket away from exposing the tail (given that Freddi is not in form with the bat). As for the Australians, time and again they have shown that all they need is one breakthrough and then their bowlers run through the opposition.

The Second day is potentially a very interesting day for cricket....

266-3 is a bloody good day for England.Australia took the first session but we emphatically took the other 2.I hope Collingwood gets the ton he deserves in the morning and we need another hour of KP to set us on the way to 500.

Ponting showed he isn't a great captain again today, how can he explain his underuse of Clark who bowled 8 overs in the morning session and was by far the best bowler on show today and then only use him for 7 overs in the last 2 sessions. One of the strangest decisions i have ever seen.Michael Clarke bowled 10 overs in the last 2 sessions, perhaps he got them mixed up.

The plan must be get 500 and hope the pitch plays up like it did with the ball by Lee to KP which kept very low.Ponting looked shocked.

And Richie Benaud rates Ponting as the best captain........

I couldnt agree more Greg. Well done England. I will be the first to admit the I am very impressed with Collingwood. I have been one of his critics. I hope he goes on to make a big one. England still have lots to do though. Pietersen and Collingwood need to carry on as I do not believe that the lower order will score much runs.

We have a game on here. If England can get to 450+, we will see what the Aussies are made of under pressure. We saw them crack under pressure last year. I really do hope that Harmison fires as his performance could determine the result of the game.

I agree with you Greg on Ponting. Whenever he is under pressure he is made to look silly. I think that his poor captaincy is not exposed very often because his players get him off the hook all the time.

Good fightback by England... Collingwood is going superbly isnt he??? back to back 98's almost Moyo like i think!!! KP has gotten his 60 in quick time as well... and 266/3 is a damn good score for England.. if they can just squeak past 400 plus i think the Aussies will feel the pressure. What will we have next Harmy delivering a straight up yorker first ball to burst the stumps?
