Good tactics by Flintoff to rest the fast bowlers for the new ball. They can have a real tilt.

The bowlers will be fresh but they need to take at least 3 wickets with the new ball tonight or the last 2 days could be rather boring from an England point of view.

Then again to take wickets you need your fielders to catch and umpires to give correct decisions.

You also need to take the new ball when it is available.
Poor captaincy by Flintoff as the spinners won't get these two out.

New ball could bring on the onslaught

142 & 77 both are seeing them all right, and the major limiting run scoring condition so far discussed here has been the slowness of the wicket.

Big innings for Clarke this,if he can score some runs on this easy pitch then he will surely keep his place for Perth and Watson would come in for Martyn instead who looks a bit of a bunny as far as England are concerned.

Clarke should be playing ahead of Martyn regardless of what happens here. Marto is now a habitual failure against England as is his mate Haydo who should be cut for Phil Jaques.

I agree but will your selectors?

Clarke wouldn't be playing if Watson hadn't got injured and they may just drop him to play the balanced side they wanted originally. You can never tell what selection panels will do.
