I think its difficult for us here to appreciate the isolation of Perth compared to the main centres but with 3 of their boys in I'm sure your right. Has the WACA really slowed up that much Quag or is it just Aussie propaganda

50 partnership up. Warne really is annoying isn't he? We've still got Lee to come who hits a long ball so we seem to be moving inexorably to a draw.

Declaring short and trying to bowl out England for the win has certainly been idea that has been thrown around in the media over here. But I can't really understand what we have to gain from this strategy this early in the series. Having been 3/60 odd chasing 550 I would think Australia would be quite comfortable taking the draw in this game, keeping their 1-0 lead, and having the chance to re-jig their order ahead of the 3rd test. Why chase a difficult and unneccessary win now, and possibly blow the draw, when one good day with the ball next Test might be enough to get us a 2-0 lead?

Gee Clarke looks to be in good nick doesn't he.

I think a draw is a good result for both sides so the game will more than likely just drift towards that. No way the Aussies will even contemplate declaring behind imo.

Hi anthman,
Nice to see you back - The idea I suppose would be say Austrlia declared 75 behind, and England were all out for 250.
Australia would have an outside achance on this pitch of making the 326 needed to win the real hope wold be that with the heat the pitch would bring Warne into play.
I doubt Ponting would risk that- giving England an outside chance. whan a draw means Australia still have one hand on the urn.

Matthew Hoggard has trapped Warne LBW

It seems England has got over confident and has let Australia right back in this game.

They should move Clarke up to replace Martyn. And bring in Jaques to open instead of Hayden.

Nice little solid innings from Warnie. Has done enough.

Not sure about that. The pitch is so lifeless that the Aussies are just making the easy runs. England are still trying hard.

Good effort from the Hogster. A five haul on this wicket is impressive stuff.
