Probably possible if the commentary team comes down to bat instead of the Australian team. They haven't got much practice, have they?

Just doing his job. He is in the entertainment business and is thus paid to make even the dullest of contests sound interesting

59-1 at close of play,lead is 97.

A bore draw is inevitable as the pitch is still doing nothing.Clark bowled well again and was easily the pick of the seamers,Warne was spinning it quite a lot but the lack of pace in the pitch negates his effectiveness.

It will come down to how Bell and Strauss handle Warne tomorrow morning. The first session is very crucial for England. Given their record against Warne (except ona few occassions), I will still keep my fingers crossed and believe that we can still have a result in this match.

By the way, does anyone know the latest on why Flintoff did not bowl much today?

Talking

LOL.

Django, I have never come across a more fervent believer in the mythical, super-human prowess of the Australian cricket team, and in the complete uselessness of their English and Indian counterparts!

I would think it will be the same reason that McGrath won't bowl much tomorrow after his opening burst. Why bother overbowling him on a lifeless pitch when they are just back after long layoffs.Save some petrol for the next game when a result might be more realistic.

At least i hope that is the case or England will have absolutely no chance of retaining the ashes.

I haven't seen the interviews at the close as i put Dora the Explorer on for the kids so i don't know for sure.Doubt they will say anything anyway.

Australia would have an outside achance on this pitch of making the 236 needed to win the real hope wold be that with the heat the pitch would bring Warne into play.
I doubt Ponting would risk that- giving England an outside chance. whan a draw means Australia still have one hand on the urn.
Fantastic Ern......so Aus declare 75 behind, Eng score 250 2nd time out yet Aus only need 236 to win ? Your arithmetical ability has about the same merit as Saj Mahmood's case for inclusion in the Test side.

Quality.

That's a trifle harsh Nazza, no? I am sure Ern meant to say 326 (250+75+1), and 236 was merely a transposition error.

I really cannot get worked up over a man's typos when there's an Ashes to be won out there and he is typing in the middle of the night

Oh I say. I come back from a weekend away listening to "oompah" bands and drinking yellow fizzy muck with absolutely no taste - Tottenham have predictably lost to Arsenal and lo and behold the world and his wife have scored huge runs on a shirt front. Jolly well done to all concerned, except Arsenal.

So now I'll take a big deep breath before I apologise to a player I have pilloried terribly over the years for his lack of talent.

Bloody well bowled Matthew Hoggard () and I thought he could only do it in English conditions.

Well he certainly showed me.

No question in my mind, if this match finishes in the draw that it should then Hoggard is the man of the match.
Seven wickets on a pitch as lifeless as that one, has got to be the outstanding peformance.
