Brett Lee Fined

Lee has been fined 25% of his match fee for over appealing when he thought Kevin Pietersen was caught behind.

I watched this incident live and have to say I find this decision extraordinary. I understand he didn't turn around but I am certain that no dissent was intended and when he realised it had been turned down he carried on without the historionics and pained expressions of persecution so favoured by other players in this series. I am also convinced there are players on both sides who appeall when they know its not out (no names no pack drill) to merly "work the umpire". Palpably not the case here.

It really has come to something when we fine a bowler for showing delight when he genuinely believed he had dismissed the opposition's best batsman.

I agree. It wasn't as if he was doing a jig on a length on the pitch.Harshly treated in my opinion.

It is quite clear that you must appeal and wait for the umpires decision, you must not celebrate until that decision is made.

Lee never turned to the umpire, but ran past the batter the celebrate with Gilchrist, that is against the rules, but he did get a very small fine, so it all seems fair to me.

If I were Lee, I'd appeal against the appeal to have my appeal fined.
