To be fair to both Pietersen and Flintoff - and to a lesser degree Jones, he first attacking shot - and gone, just a touch unlucky.

Jones score makes his selection over Read look silly.

In fairness to Jones he has kept well, and even stood up to Hoggard in the 1st innings.

But he's not making any runs.

Nearly all of our batsman have been architects of their own downfall. I said a bit earlier the pitch was still flat which looks a bit silly according to the score card but unfortunately I do believe its the case. Real test of chracter now

The pitch is supposed to be a dead pitch, so no excuses for the English batsmen.

Collingwood has to play shots now. England need another 50 runs or so to have any sort of chance.

I do not get what Collingwood is doing - if they are batting just to survive, then why give so many deliveries to Hoggard. If they want the runs then why is he not trying to score.

He's trusting Hoggard (foolishly enough probably) with the strike and is just hoping to bat out enough overs and accumulate the odd run to save the game.

True - I keep hearing commentators saying don't underestimate the England seamers, I think it's being forgot - Flintoff is injured.

Another 50 runs, can't see where they are coming from.
