Turning into a very interesting game. New Zealand with a first innings lead of about 50 and Sri Lanka 23/1 in response. If they could get a lead of 150-200 then you never know with Murali on board.

But yeah, no one in the stadium is not helping the atmosphere.

AT 4/46 in the second innings, the match is all but over for SL.

It is 5/46 now, still 6 behind NZ first innings total. It appears the match might be over today!

I watched the first session and it was far more interesting than any of the Australia-England series i have watched so far.Low scoring games are always much more entertaining.

so thats us teetering on 125-8 after 37 overs.

Sangakkara, and maybe Tharanga, offering any sort of resistance. Thats New Zealnad 1-0 up by the looks of things now, so its all about damage limitations if anything.

Nice to see Shane Bond back in the thick of things. 6 wickets so far in the match. A really underrated bowler in world cricket, because of his injuries, and hopefully hell get more of the recognition he deserves...

An even contest between bat and ball is always more entertaining for me as well. But I believe in NZ, ball tends to dominate the bat more often than not where as in other parts of the world it is the other way around. Low scoring games are good but not such low scores, although in this instance bad batting by the SL batsmen is equally responsible for the position they are in.

The other thing is that all matches that do not involve Australia are always more interesting because generally both sides have an even chance of winning. Matches (particularly test matches) involving Australia are predictable in favour of Australia (Australian palyers perform like robots) and hence reached a stage where they are boring to watch.

Different it might be Mr Hutt, but a "test" it isn't Test match pitches should be built to produce a result in 4 days; this one at Christchurch is one extreme where the match won't last beyond the third afternoon, and the Adelaide pitch was the other extreme.

Now if only all pitches were like the NSK (Karachi)!

I wouldn't blame this pitch too much Yasser. I'm watching the game at the moment. The batting is awful. You posted something after the ICC trophy about the standard of modern batting. I totally agreed with it. the batting is to blame. Not the pitch. If Daniel Vettori can get a fifty then it merely shows up the deficiencies of the other one day cricketers that think they can play the game.

Change the players and you would get a different result.
