New Zealand vs Sri Lanka 1st test match

Sri Lanka have not made a good start to the series - 2/17 within the first 30 minutes of the match. Sri Lanka have always struggled in New Zealand and it remains to be seen whether there is change to the history.

As for NZ, they have always performed very well at home with the same players who otherwise struggle elsewhere.

Jayawardene gone to a silly shot given the circumstances.

I'm really shocked by how Sri Lanka are playing - gung ho isn't the word! Tharanga had already top edged a six, and all the runs seem to be scored via the boundary!

I know its a fairly small ground, but even so! Have any of them heard of getting their eye in first??

3/55 after the first hour and things do not look good for the Sri Lankans. It looks history is going to repeat itself...

I'm looking for one of your famous predictions to tell me that, Django

Great ball to dismiss Silva though, eh?

Made famous because the predictions turn out to be right more often than not. (recent examples: India losing despite having SA 2 down for nil and of course the Adelaide one!)

Do I need to make any predictions about this series?

Exactly. Can't argue with your prediction track record.

I dunno. Chaminda Vaas should enjoy bowling here. Might run through the flakey Kiwi top order??

Surprise me with your prediction, Django. The form you're in, you could predict Holland to win this match and somehow it would happen

Vaas would love to bowl here.

Kiwi top order is fragile, but somehow the batsmen are always in form when they play in NZ.

I watched the first session on Sky last night. There were clearly more people following the game (two it would appear) on this board than in the ground. The place was empty. Test cricket with noone there. This was unacceptable. Reminded me of watching Sheffield Wednesday in the second division.

I am not surprised at this performance from SL. 154 all out. NZ 85/2. Highest score from SL was 37...tells the story. No one bowlers dominated.
