I hope this is just spin like the Aussie camp has been dishing out, I don't agree with CC over the old pals act between Giles/Flintoff - Flintoff likes to win.

I also believe that Fletcher has the last say on who is in the side in any case.

I can't see England winning with an unchanged team, I can't see Panersar alone making any difference at all, it's been obvious that England NEED a pace bowler to partner Flintoff.

Mahmood +Plunkett - or Mahmood+panesar could give australia a shock.

Much better balanced side the Aussies have picked. I think no Martyn is defenite plus.
I know Symond's hasn't performed at Test level but they could not go on with Martyn.

As for England their big chance was missed in the last Test. MCgrath wasn't fully fit and there were three other bowlers only. This time the task is bigger than last they don't know which way the toss will go, last time they won it and got a great start against an attack that had seen better days. The first thing is to win the toss if they don't the incline will increase. I don't think it matters that much the team selection but key players will have to up their game.

Ernest, I think Flintoff, not fletcher, will have the final say on who he picks. Fred has form in the "not-bowling Panesar when he has been foisted on him" category. And, certainly in Hussain's and vaughan's touring days, Captain always got the final say. I know Fred and Fletch are not close, but i would imagine you would have to go with the captain's pick, purely because, like in Athers and stewie's day, they simply will refuse to bowl the guy they didnt want.

For what it's worth i would have Mahmood, read and monty in, for Jones, Gilo and anderson.

Would be my team too but I think the best we can hope for is two of the above three changes. Jones/Read being the exception.

Hmm I have posted a link some place on WAT with a link to an interview with Fletcher, that suggests that Flintoff does not have the last (or only) say.

I agree with the 3 changes you have made, had England started with those three - England MAY not have been two matches down at this stage.

The match starts at 0230 GMT and 1330 AEST. Normally, Test matches start at 11:00 AM local time but this one is starting at 11:30 AM for some reason. Perhaps to fit in with television committments with the Eastern states. The Tea break should happen about 6:00 - 6:30 PM when the Eastern states normally take their evening News.

I agree - winning the toss can be a burden at times.

Near as it can be the the best England side on offer.
