Sangakarra looks like making his hundred before lunch on the first day.

Man how good is that Sangakarra. Another ton! (and bailing his teammates out again too). The life is going out of the wicket now and he will be hoping to really cash in.
Sangakarra now has 5000 runs at an average of 50

What a days cricket this has been.

SL 268 Sangakkara 156*

NZ 52-3 with 6 overs left.

SL after getting themselves in a pickle with the bat having won the toss are now copying Australia against England and taking control with the ball.

Sangakkara must be fuming with his teammates for having no support.Over 1200 runs in 2006 with 4 centuries, cracking record.

50% of team total in back to back innings. I remember Lara (another player who constantly has to perform on his own) doing this in back to back tests against South Africa a couple of years ago, but back to back in completed innings. I think it's a first.

Day 3 - Session 2 - approaching the 100th over of the innings and with the new ball having been seen off... Sri Lanka lead by 458 runs with 4 wickets remaining.

The challenge facing NZ surely now exceeds the challenge facing England!

Congratulations Sri Lanka!

Murali spins his side to victory and Sri Lanka squares the series 1-1.

Kiwis were dismissed for 286 in the second session of the 4th day, with Murali earning himself another 10-wicket match haul, and the Lankans a 217-run victory.

I'm sure the victory was doubly-sweet for Muttiah...

A 5-match ODI series to look forward to now.
