Interesting to hear Atherton talk about the change in batting techniques since helmets came in. He feels they play the hook alot more. One thing for sure if Hussey had got thet one with no helmet it would certainly be the end of his series!!

Would not write England off just yet. There have been Shield games here where both sides have been bowled out for low 200's and then in the second innings they have made 4-5 hundred.

And as I type this Jones misses a stumping

Quite right AY. I have never kept wicket seriously but looked like a missed chance to me. Yet another inditement on our poor selection policy.

The Aussies have much better batters than England.

The England bowlers have done a job for England, the batting has not.

Can't understand why Mahmmod is not bowling more.

Treacothick is missed a like for like with Hayden, but England have no Ponting.

News from the State game and Shane Watson has done his ham string again. Looks like Symonds may get another chance.

Dont want to get off topic but Kenny G directed me to a great computer game. Check out the thread from the last test.

This game looks to have gone from us. We have many problems here, The main one is Hussey. He has such quick feet and a superb eye, doesn't look like getting out. Poning has been great but this boy looks a world beater.

Oh dear, if I was Harmison I would take Jones into the sheds and beat the living day lights out of him. Husey Dropped

Oh dear - what a surprise, this must be the end of the Jones connection, I wonder if Prior would be a better bet than Read.

I bet the Stewart knockers would be glad to see him back.

For those who didn't see that dropped chance Hussey got a top edge when attempting a pull or hook shot off Harmison. The ball went up a long way - and was coming down behind square leg. Pietersen was running in from a position in front of square and would have got comfortably underneath it. However, Jones also decided to go for it and sprinted hard to get there and then dived to catch it. Jones was fully committed and Pietersen had no option but to stay clear to avoid a collision. Jones was looking up the whole time and didn't see Pietersen coming. Bad misjudgement on Jones' part because Pietersen was the closest of the two fielders.
