| Worst #11 Batsman Ever? I remember the days when people used to call Devon Malcolm the worst batsman in the world. However, after his retirement from first class cricket, he went on to make a century in the Minor Counties (for Suffolk, I believe) Really, Devon Malcolm's lack of batting skill pales into insignificance alongside the one, the only Chris Martin Martin has less than half the test match runs than he has test match wickets. He currently averages 2.08 with a high score of 7 from 42 innings (with 19 not outs). He has been dismissed for a duck no less than 17 times!! No matter which players I look up - Ewen Chatfield, Devon Malcolm, Phil Tufnell etc. no one seems to have such a woeful batting record. Can anyone compare to the batting records that Chris Martin is racking up?? Last edited by Andy Mellon : 16-12-2006 at 11:11 PM. |

In fact, last year vs the West Indies, Martin was out first ball 3 innings in a row! |

| Being serious Martin does look even worse than his countryman Danny Morrison who was a recognised bunny as well but still managed to famously keep England out for half a day once. I can't recall a worse number 11 though i will try. |

| I'm not going to be bias here I'm going to say Glenn McGrath!

| If Jones keeps playing the way he is, without being dropped, his average could go that way. 2004 ave 35.23 2005 ave 26.00 2006 ave 13.75 At this rate, he could be there by next year. ![]()

| Courtney Walsh's figures are flattered by 61 not outs... most gathered because the batsmen the other end reckoned they had better try something outrageous rather than be stranded: to my mind he remains the most entertaining batsman in the history of cricket... with about as much idea of where the ball was going to be as Harmison had on the first morning at the Gabba Seriously though... I do think differences in ability become irrelevent once you reach players of the callibre of Tuffers, Malcolm, Mullally and Giddens (a quartet who, sadly, never played int he same side). |

| i remember devon looking particularly inept at the crease, which gets him my vote.
