Nel has been bowling a very good line to Tendulkar. Tendulkar, though beaten once on a drive, hasnt exactly been uncomfortable yet...but then he hasnt played any shots yet either. Interesting small contest going on.

I agree DomainK. Nel is a big A**hole. I am embarrased as a South African of his behaviour. I would like to see Langeveldt play instead of Nel. Like I have said before, Nel is Smiths buddy, that is why he plays all the time. I hope they both get dropped after the world cup (I would prefer if they got dropped now but it aint gonna happen).

Pollock has not been given the new ball because over the past year, he has not been able to get any wickets while opening the bowling. The selectors rightfully decided to allow a more agressive bowler to open the bowling with Ntini. Pollock has been very useful bowling first change. He creates pressure by drying up the runs from one end.

I think India are in a slightly better position than SA. The experience in the middle order (Laxman, Ganguly and Tendulkar) gives India the edge at the moment. SA really need Ntini to fire.

The ball is not swinging much now but still bouncing high. SA has kept it tight so far. The bowlers have been bowling a good line and scoring has been slow. Tendulkar played some beautiful shots but has been quite happy to leave the ones outside the off stump. Jaffer has been hanging in there as well. A few more overs and I would expect Tendulkar to start playing his shots. He hasnt got a 50 in the last 13 innings and he must be itching to score some good runs.

I agree with you gibbs_fan that India is in a better position right now. But a couple of wickets can turn the tables. And one more good seession will put India in control of this match.

I don't think Smith is all talk I think he just lacks ability. He is not the most talented player ever. The question is who do replace them by. Its like Indian seamers of recent years one assumes they are not playing because of favouritism but because there are no real alternatives. And thats the position SA are in could you tell me the alternatives?

well if he lacks abillity why does he say everything he does he talks to look tough rather than going to the press he should spend more time in the nets

Jaque Rudolph is a far better choice for an opening batsman. Rudolph should be given the chance to open the batting for SA. Smith is all talk. If you cant back up what you say, then you should not say anything. Its pointless saying that you are going to win every series (like Smith does) and then he ends up not contributing at all. Most of the time Ntini bails him out but you dont see Ntini saying he is going to bowl every side out.

I follow SA cricket and I can safely say that there is enough talent out there (especially in the batting department to easily replace Smith). Like I said before, Smith will get fired after the world cup. He should get fired now but that just aint gonna happen.

If SA open with de Villiers and Rudolph, then one of the likes of Benkenstein, Ackerman, Duminy can be accomodated in the SA lineup. I would like to see Kemp in the SA side batting at 6. Smith needs to go back to the cobras and sort out his pathetic technique.

My line up

Rudolph
de Villiers
Kallis
Gibbs
Prince
Kemp
Boucher
Pollock
Harris
Langeveldt
Ntini

As long as Boeta never plays again, then I am almost happy

Agh bad light stops play yet again. I must say that I am sick and tired of this problem. Why are test matches even played at Kingsmead when clearly it is impossible to get even 1 full days play. Its not like SA dont have any other grounds. I think that if the ICC does not consider the 6 day option for places like Durban and Pakistan, then Kingsmead should not be used as a test venue. Play starts a half an hour earlier yet we never get a full days play.

Perhaps all tests should be played in Cape Town

Smiths drop catch is going to cost us dearly. We could have had India on the ropes. I still favour India at this stage but lets hope SA can turn it around tomorrow.

Anyone expecting more play toady, is a fool
