I just saw the highlights and was surprised to see Smith and Nel arguing with the umpirers when they offered the light to the batsmen. I cant really see what was there to argue. The rule is simple and no one can force the batsmen to play when there isnt adequate light. I think that was unprofessional and unnecessary from Smith.

Also I have been told (not sure) that the crowd booed the batsmen when they took the light and went off. I am again surprised. Didnt SA take the light the previous day with a batsman short of a century?

Did Dravid argue? I havent seen that day's game. Dravid or Smith, its foolish and unprofessional to argue with the umpire on application of a rule as simple as that.

Sachin Tendulkar reached his half-century with a beautiful drive past the bowler. I am happy to see Sachin playing comfortably out there.

AS bowlers are not getting much swing and are relying on the bounce more. In the process, they are pitching it a little short which makes no sense to me as both batsmen are very good players off the back foot. Having said that, they cant even pitch it up as both batsman love to play drives on the rise and with so little movement off the seam, they will score very fast. May be a slower bowler would have been useful for SA now. Lets see how it goes.

I don't think I've ever seen an umpire go off like this before. Benson feeling unwell (thats what happens when you let men of kent take charge Should have got someone from north of the river )

So now we have a case where we don't have 2 neutral umpires? I didn't think that was allowed any more.

Big shout for caught behind. Donald and Richards seem convinced on commentary but I have to say I don't know why. It seemed clear on the replay that he didn't touch it. Maybe SA had decided to test the new umpire out but why the commentators should call it out even after the replay showed there was no touch is surprising.

Ganguly gone too. India in deep trouble. Will Dhoni play one of those innings?

Yes, just when India were starting to look comfortable. Ganguly, thanks for coming. This just proves that Indians cannot play short bowling. Smiths drop catch did not cost too much after all.

Like I told Brian_Lara, 600 by India in SA, dream on. Bad light or no bad light, India will never score more than 400 in SA. More like 200 all out. We have a game on here. I dont think that Dhoni will last long, he can only bat on flat tracks. The tail will be cleaned up quickly. I cannot wait to see Ntini bowl to Sreesanth. Remember that Sreesanth hit Ntini quite a few times with his bouncers.

Dhoni was plumb, not given out. It does not matter though. I hope that the youngstre Morkel settles down today and picks up 1 or 2 wickets.

Dhoni gone, his luck finally ran out. Morkel gets his first wicket. Hopefully SA can clean up the tail. It will be interesting to see how the tail play Morkel as he really gets a lot of bounce

I must say that Laxman truly is a class act. After being hit on the shoulder and continuously being bounced, he has shown what a class player he is. I wish SA had a player as brave as him.

I think England could do with a couple of fighters now. They are get rolled over at the moment
