Well, I can think of one or 2 scenarios:

Smith, AB de Villiers, Amla, Kallis, Prince, Pollock, Boucher, Harris. Then one of these : Nel, Steyn, Hall, Morkel.

That will mean there are 5 batsmen, 2 allrounders (if Hall plays), a spinner and 3 quicks.

On the other hand, the selectors may just replace Gibbs with Jacques Rudolph. If that happens, I think Hall will sit out again to make way for 3 quicks: Nel, Steyn and Morkel. This of course assuming Ntini is the one who'll be rested for the PE match.

There is of course the small matter of keeping the politians happy. And that means this suggestions of mine will flow right out of the window....there are only 2 "quota" players: Amla and Prince...

They could always draft JP Duminy in... Or perhaps just rest Polly...and not Makhaya.

I have started a thread about the Gibbs incident, can we have all future discussions about that topic on the new thread.

St George's may not be what we expect...

Or so believes the groundsman. He says it will have pace and bounce the first 3 days, and will favour the spinners on days 4 and 5.

Both teams have bad memories of their last tests played here. South Africa lost to England 2 seasons ago, and Pakistan lost by 259 runs, almost 10 years ago.

Anyhow, we are expecting some rain in this area, and when we get rain HERE, it inevitably moves down the coast to PE. Lets hope it's a fast-moving front though...This test should be very interesting.

Seems like both teams are still undecided about their bowling line-ups: Proteas on whom to rest, and Pakistan's still unsure about the match-fitness of Umar Gul and Shoaib Akhtar.
