South Africa vs Pakistan - 1st Test

Good morning everyone

The first test is due to start soon. Pakistan have won the toss and rightfully decided to bat. Centurion is usually a good bating strip. Anyone about the final team selections?

Good morning.

Cricinfo says the final teams are

South Africa: Captain GC Smith, AB de Villiers, HM Amla, JH Kallis, HH Gibbs, AG Prince, wicket-keeper MV Boucher, SM Pollock, AJ Hall, A Nel, M Ntini

Pakistan: Mohammad Hafeez, Humayun Farhat, Yasir Hameed, Younis Khan, captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, Faisal Iqbal, wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal, Shahid Nazir, Naved-ul-Hasan, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Asif

Just tuned into the action on TV, interesting pitch.

Barry Richards say the pitch looks a bit two paced, and probably wont have a lot of pace today, but more seam movement. Hard work initially.

And a very good morning to everyone too!

This is very confusing....Paul Harris is fielding at mid-on, and according to this cricinfo list, and the scoreboard, Andrew Hall is playing?!

Well, Hall is playing today although I feel that Harris should have played instead. Guess Hall gets to be the bride today

May be he's on as a substitute, Wanderer.

As I write, Hafeez has just got Pakistan and him self off the mark with a lovely drive through the covers. Good positive start. Oh dear, I should eat my hat, he gets beat the very next ball.

Hmm, I think I'm in the mood of doing some running commentary for no good reason.

Nel just started the 2nd over, and Farhat attempts a rather outlandish stroke to start off. Typical. And the gets beats of the third ball as well, fishing outside off stump.

And I'm noticing, not a lot of crowd in. May be more will come in later in the day.

3rd over: Nice four down the ground from Hafeez off Ntini, looking good so far. Good leave off the next ball. Followed by a one with rather steap bounce, he wasn't on top of that. Next one played for no run towards the offside. And ends the over with another good delivery that beats the bat.

Zainub, who is Humayan Farhat. I assumed that it was Imran but I see it is his brother. Is Imran not in the squad and was Humayan always in the squad. Is this his debut. I also notice that he is a right hander unlike his brother.

4th over: Nel's first ball (slightly wide one) slashed for a four. And next one left well alone. Third ball played back to the bowler confidently. Fourth ball, big appeal for a caught behind! Has he nicked that or not? Oooohh, just missed it, confirms the replay. Single taken of the next ball, Farhat keeps the strike, 14-0.

Gibbs fan, I'm not sure where you've seen Humayan Farhat, I can see Imran on my TV screen.

Commentate away sister!

Hmmm... Crowd may be a little on the thin side, as the new school year has just started....And most people started work this week. And if they're like me, they also don't have much annual leave avaible at the moment
