To walk or not to walk that is the question

Interesting to see Michael Hussey on the Australian news declaring that he is a non walker and will only go when the umpire gives him out. An astute reporter obviously followed that up with the question "what do you think about your team mate Adam Gilchrist's pro walk dont wait for the umpire's decision stance" to which he replied basically "to each his own".
I feel Adam Gilchrist is in a big minority, but not alone in world cricket. I think Viv Richards used to be a walker as was Clive Lloyd, I know Steve Waugh and Allan Border were of the veiw that they were often hard done by with some decisions so they were non walkers. I think Doug Walters was a walker as well.
In between I put the likes of Greg Chappell and Mark Taylor who I think were occasional walkers, but not total walkers.
I think tail enders are predominantly non walkers.
Who do you think in your side are the

Total walkers
Occasional walkers
Non walkers
?

Don't start me off acker I was really ****ing ********** off Mike "Cheating ****ing piece of ****" Hussey refused to walk and gave the old innocent look, you can bet if that was Andrew Strauss he'd be on his way to the pavilion. Look I've been set off again. I really wanted Anderson to bowl Hussey just so he could say "Does that look ****ing out?"

Awwww, diddums. Maybe ill have some sympathy for you when i see an Englishman walk.

And please, tell me, when Adam 'i walk when i nic it' Gilchrist was given out in the Sydney test even though he missed it by a mile, who was the bowler who went up and looked totally guilty afterwards? Anderson. What goes around comes around. So silence, whinging pom.

Well, the thing is, I don't mind Gilchrist. But I don't like Hussey. That's why I sound off. Because Hussey just sticks around in the crease even when he's out. Gilchrist is a gentleman (with the bat anyway).

If the Lord of the Rings is going to provide test umpires please give us Aragorn (Viggo Mortenson) rather than Gollum (Billy Bowden)

Yes, but really, aside from Gilchrist, who consistently walks? So if you're condeming Hussey for doing it, then so you should 98% of all international players, including the entire England team since their isn't one obvious walker amongst them, and why should there be. I'm totally against Gilchrist walking and am absolutely horrified each time he does it. Theres nothing to gain from it on the field.

Angry

To walk or not??? Is that really the question here?? I have often wandered why do they even bother having a third umpire when they dont seem to use him as often as they should! It is ovious that Mike Hussey nipped the faintest of edges in last nights one dayer but with the crowd as big and noisey as it was the nik was not heard. Heck i did'nt hear it. But when they played the replay it showed up! Like many of the aussies Mike Hussey is a fine cricketer. How he plays his game of cricket is up to him. English supporters i know how you feel. If that decision had of gone englands way it may have been an interesting game!

Personally I'm not all that bothered whether players walk or not, there's nothing in the Laws of Cricket to say that they ought to, it is merely left as an option.

There is nothing to gain apart from gaining respect from the cricketing community and something that many people have not heard of. Honesty. Imagine you were the batsmen and didn't walk. The bowler had produced a gem and you got a huge nick but the umpire did not give it and you never walked.

Now put yourself in the fielding teams shoes or even the bowler. You have set up a plan for around 6 overs and when it finally works the umpire gives it not out and the batsmen doesn't walk. What would you be feeling like? I bet you would be saying - Why didn't he walk?

Think about that one
