So that makes Pollock the only one left

From the legendary 90s with likes of McGrath , Donald , Ambrose , Walsh , Akram , Younis all retiring.

I miss those days.

Out of them who would you consider the best?

For me hands down Ambrose.

Although they were all great, for me Ambrose was also the best, his only weakness being that sometimes he needed to be "wound up" by an opponent to produce a hostile and destructive spell of bowling.

How do you define "best": Ambrose made use of one thing none of the others could match: his height. You might argue that he developed an unhealthy obsession with utilising his height to dry up runs (which he hated conceding) and actually ended up doing less with the ball than (say) Wasim... but those sorts of arguments just seem to me to go around in circles rather than get anyone anywhere.

In a perfect world the team would have a master craftsman like Wasim one end but a bowler in the mould of Ambrose the other: which would be a better bet for any particular side would surely depend on who else was in the side!

If I'd already got Donald and McGrath I'd perhaps go for the swing, reverse swing and variations of Wasim... but if I'd already got Waqar and Pollock I'd almost certainly go for the brutality and bounce of Ambrose.

Ambrose had better control than any of the others though ( including McGrath!), and could move the ball around from a good full length, which he usually bowled .

If i had to pick an opening pair from the above it would be Ambrose and Wasim because between them they would have everything.

In the end is the ability to take wickets and Ambrose was the best.

I reckon no bowler was a feared as he was. His presence was pure intimidation. You did not have the courage to sledge this guy.
