I would agree that Murali is an effective bowler on any surface, with excellant control. In MY opinion his action is unfair.

The fact is other than Brett Lee and Shoaib, Murali is the only bowler who flexes him arm more than 10 degrees and nigh on 15. When He took 14 wickets at the oval a few years back he bowled some leg spin and I recall saying at the time "his arm looks straight!". He also bowled some leg spin after being called for chucking in Australia - I wonder why??

I have no probem with Murali, its chucking in general. There are loads of bowlers who are playing international cricket and have terrible actions. If the ICC hadnt have been so weak in the first place this would never have happened. Rant over.

I guess this is a well trodden topic so we'll leave it now with - he's a very talented bowler, with great control and variations, but not everyone likes (or has to like) his action .

Murali without a doubt.

And pie_chucker is bang on about the chucking issue. It is everywhere, but with the Murali case it gets glorified a tad because he has such a fantastic record. Its unfair really.

For certain reasons my name got edited and im too lazy to get it changed so you might find my stance on Murali quite strange. Why is it that the guy can bowl a legspinner with a straight arm when he supposedley has a bent arm?

As far as I can tell, Murali's right arm is never straight. He has been examined by doctors and it has been confirmed that he does have a slight deformity that prevents him from straightening it completely. As to his bowling legspinners with a "straight arm" that is very likely to be an optical illusion due to the changed angle of his body relative to the camera.

Murali cannot know when the TV broadcaster's cameras will show his bowling action in slow motion during live games. I have seen several of those and his arm looks the same in all of them at the elbow.

I dont really read too much into what doctors say about sportsmen these days. Im a skeptic about him being cleared.

There is coverage on the internet showing him bowling that ball. Maybe it is an "illusion" created by the camera. I dont believe it but you are entitled to your opinion.

Because he is not totally proven yet maybe in the next 12 months he deffenitly will be on the list, he has conquered south africa on helpful pitches and a weak england side, if he conquers in the sub continent without the backing of t the best bowling duo maybe ever will be interessting
